"Wings" is the ending song for the RWBY episode "Black and White" and serves as the ending song for Volume 1. It is incorporated in the RWBY: Volume 1 Soundtrack.
Instead of a remix, the "Lo-FI" version featured on the RWBY: Volume 9 Soundtrack is a re-recording of the song.
Composition[]
"Wings" is a slow and soft piano-centric song, though later verses feature a more rich and layered sound. The pre-chorus sections ("Don't be disappointed...") feature only very soft piano work, while the choruses are louder and feature guitar, drums, bass and strings.
Lyrics[]
One life,
Is not a long time,
When you're waiting,
For a small sign.
Patience,
Is hard to find.
Shadows,
Seem to fill your life.
Don't be disappointed,
Don't let your heart break.
Don't spend another minute,
In this way.
It's okay.
Dry your eyes now, baby;
Broken wings won't hold you down.
You'll take flight soon, baby.
You'll be lifted up,
And you'll be there
Twelve hours,
Is a long night.
When you're searching,
With no hope in sight.
Aimless,
On the inside;
And the damage,
Makes you want to hide.
I know that it seems pointless,
I know that it feels fake.
I know you can't stand the thought of,
Being stray,
One more day.
Dry your eyes now, baby;
Broken wings won't hold you down.
You'll take flight soon, baby.
You'll be lifted up,
And you'll be there.
