“ The city falls along with the deformed Sillies and the robot soldiers affected by the bugs’ rampage. As the situation gets chaotic, Nega-Weiss shows up with a giant statute of Nicholas, capturing the Sillies one after another. Although Jaune bravely confronts the statue of Jacques, who is wearing armor that’s reminiscent of Grimm “Geist”, he and Pyrrha, a resident of the dream, are captured. Meanwhile, Ruby’s party manages to reach the core of the dream where the “Nightmare” had rooted, but Nega-Weiss stands in their way. Yang and Blake are swallowed into the glyphs and disappear. ”

"Where You Belong", with the subtitle "Ice Storm", is the eighth episode of the anime RWBY: Ice Queendom. It released on August 21st, 2022 on Japanese networks. The English dub was released on November 13th, 2022.

Changes from the Show[]

Difference between the show and anime[]

  • In the show, Ruby and Whitley don’t interact much throughout the Atlas arc, but in the anime, Ruby only interacts with Whitley’s Dream Actor.

Original Scenes[]

  • Weiss is in life-threatening danger within her dreams, as part of her dress is starting to get torn as she is starting to disappear.
  • Ruby starts becoming affected by Nightmare after she touched Nightmare’s thorns from her second time she went Weiss' dreamscape as her right-hand starts spreading with thorn-like markings.
  • Bashful Klein is the last of the Seven Butlers to be introduced, and his role is to lock away the banished residents where they are not wanted.
  • Due to feeling helpless for not saving Weiss, Ruby is put into a dream by the same Grimm itself at the end of the episode while she is still in Weiss’ Dreamscape.
  • At the end of episode there are hints that Ruby is still inside a dream before she realizes it for herself.
    • Weiss lacks a scar on her left eye and she is nicer to her by calling Ruby her best friend, something that the real Weiss will never say to her.
    • Taiyang and Zwei appears at Beacon Academy even though they have no reason to come.
    • Dream robots and Little Weiss appears even though they are dream residents.

Trivia[]

  • When a small thorn vine first appears on Ruby's right palm, it resembles to the same marking on Team BRIR.
  • When Weiss sends Jaune and Dream Pyrrha back to the cage of sillies, this could be a throwback to when Jaune landed first then having a female land on his back.
  • Yang's right arm getting caught by Negative Weiss' transportation glyphs foreshadows in "Heroes and Monsters" where Yang loses her right arm to Adam after reckless attacking him for stabbing Blake.
  • The congratulations scene may be a reference to the infamous ending scene of Neon Genesis Evangelion wherein each character clapped and individually said congratulations to the main protagonist Shinji Ikari with the opening theme song playing in the background.
  • The end card for the episode was made by Yoshitoshi ABe, the original character design of Serial Experiments Lain anime.
