The RWBY Volume 9 Opening is the opening sequence for Volume 9 that first played at the end of the first episode "A Place of Particular Concern".

Scenes[]

  • The area between the Evacuation Central Location and the Ever After is seen rushing by, as single-color models of Jaune Arc & Neopolitan, Yang Xiao Long & Weiss Schnee & Blake Belladonna, and Ruby Rose are overlayed on top of it in groups, before a bright light reminiscent of silver eyes covers Ruby.
  • A darkened, cloudy view of the Ever After is shown before a spark of red light falls from the sky behind the Great Tree and creates a burst of light, lighting the sky up to its normal yellow color. The logo "RWBY VOLUME 9" fades in, while two blue lights (later revealed to be Alyx and Lewis arriving in the Ever After) fly to the left, and multi-colored maple leaves flutter in front of the logo. The camera pans into the R of the logo, where a door forms and opens.
  • Weiss, Blake, and Yang's Vale outfits, Mistral outfits, and Atlas outfits each appear in that order, walking forward in front of their emblems, gradually growing happier before their emblem is engulfed in a bright glow. In Ruby's case however, she appears to grow sadder with each outfit, and her Atlas outfit is behind the others, turned around with her hood up and her body entirely red. The background turns dark red and black raindrops begin falling. Alyx's head, entirely light blue, descends into view.
  • Ruby, still entirely red, clenches her fist, and looks up, a single tear dripping from her obscured eyes. The tear falls and pops, revealing Crescent Rose as it unfolds and colors return to normal with a yellow background.
  • Multiple birds from the Ever After fly to the right, covering the screen and revealing the Mouse Leader and the Hunter Mice pulling up a cheese plant. Little jumps in front of the mice, holding a cheese plant of their own.
  • A smithing hammer hits a sword, as the Jinxy Peddler is shown admiring a glass bottle while the Blacksmith holds up her hammer in the background in front of a fire.
  • Dark red chess pieces envelop the screen from the bottom, as the Red Prince holds his arms out in the background. The Curious Cat's eyes open beside him.
  • Crescent Rose, in the same position as before, starts falling and hits the ground, shattering. Team RWBY and Alyx from before (now a black silhouette rather than blue) flip up from the ground as if from a picture book, along with the background of the shoreline of the Jungle Acre. They turn to the right and begin walking, as the picture book flips to the town in the King's Acre (with the Curious Cat chasing Little), the courtyard of the Crimson Castle, and the Garden's Acre. Each time it flips, the characters begin running faster, with the exception of Ruby, who walks slower and becomes more downtrodden.
  • A mist engulfs the screen before the Herbalist makes their appearance. The Curious Cat's head pops up behind them, alarmed, before the Herbalist blows more mist into the screen.
  • Jaune looks down, resigned, in a white background populated with black circles. He turns into a black silhouette as the circles turn into clocks.
  • In an area illuminated by a purple clouds, multiple brick pathways wind throughout the sky, as Yang runs along the pathways and onto a wall, Blake looks around confused before walking right, and Weiss walks left while upside-down.
  • The camera pans over to Ruby on a bridge, as the background fades into the cloudy area of the Ever After. Across the bridge is Alyx, who begins to turn around before being obscured with a multi-colored leaf. Once visible, Alyx now looks like Ruby and grins, ducking down out of frame.
  • A cube of sugar falls into a teacup, as rainbow liquid splashes out of the cup. The camera pans back to show Neo holding the cup with nine shadowy figures behind her.
  • The pages of a book flip by in the background as the Jabberwalker's head briefly appears. The book closes shut and begins to burn. The flames envelop the screen before the Rusted Knight is seen, the background continuing to burn. In Episodes 6-10, the Rusted Knight's helmet is removed to reveal the time-worn Jaune Arc, who looks away.
  • Another multicolored leaf flutters past, as Team RWBY are seen running up the side of the large tree as the camera zooms out. All four fall over and try to grab onto the tree, before beginning to fall as more multicolored leaves fall alongside them.
  • Ruby continues falling, as a fairy tale painting depicting many of the characters goes by, before ending with Neo.
  • The camera fades into Alyx, in a very similar pose to Neo, asleep on the beach. She wakes up, and gets up to walk away. A swash of water comes up carrying Crescent Rose. The camera pans out to show a full view of the Ever After, as the words "CREATED BY MONTY OUM" appear on screen before fading to black.

Trivia[]

  • In the storybook section, at first Yang is in front of Blake, however after the first book flip Blake is suddenly in front of Yang.
  • In the opening, Weiss, Blake and Yang are moving forward and moving faster with each page turn while Ruby is moving slower in hopelessness. This could be a subtle inversion to end of the Volume 3 Opening, where the former three looked down in defeat while Ruby was the only one looking upwards.
  • This is the first opening to feature a change in its animation. Episodes 1-5 feature the Rusted Knight with his helmet on, and after he's revealed to be Jaune, episodes 6-10 feature him without his helmet.
