Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang have fought hard alongside their friends to bring the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas, the northernmost Kingdom in Remnant. However, the futuristic urban-sprawl may hide just as much danger as the Grimm-infested tundra that surrounds it. Enemies and allies will collide as our heroes fight to stop Salem's forces, but banding together is dangerous when you don't know who you can trust.

Volume 7 is the seventh season of RWBY. It premiered on November 2nd, 2019 on the Rooster Teeth website, and ran for 13 episodes with a holiday break on December 28th, 2019[1]. The volume was preceded by Volume 6. It will be followed by Volume 8.

Overview

Ruby's Group successfully arrive at the kingdom of Atlas with the Relic of Knowledge where they work with General Ironwood towards his goal of building a communications tower on Amity Colosseum to restore global communications and tell the world of Salem and unite Remnant against her. However, the arrival of Arthur Watts and Tyrian Callows in Atlas, the looming threat of Salem and the growing trust issues between our protagonists make things more complicated.

Development

Main article: RWBY Development

The development for Volume 7 began shortly before the finale of Volume 6 aired.[2] Eddy Rivas and Kiersi Burkhart were added as co-writers, in addition to Miles and Kerry. The first voice acting sessions for key characters happened on April 23rd.[3]

On July 5th, 2019, the official RWBY Twitter account confirmed that Volume 7 will premiere in November.[4] The premiere date was confirmed to be November 2nd, 2019 on July 19th, 2019. [5][6]

A sneak peak of the first episode was played at RTX 2019 on July 5th, 2019. The clip would be made public on October 31st, 2019.[7]

The trailer for the volume was released on October 3rd, 2019.

On December 28th, 2019, in lieu of an episode, Rooster Teeth aired a "FRWBY" Volume 7 Recap bonus special. The video featured the voice of Forest and a clip for Chapter 9.

Development for Volume 7 ended on January 30th, 2020, two days before the finale aired, with Sound Team wrapping up the final episode.[8]

The Ace Operatives and especially Elm Ederne and Harriet Bree were designed to experiment with diverse body types.[9]

Originally, Cinder and Neo were intended to be more present in the Volume, but the crew had to cut back on their appearances, instead making them instrumental to Ironwood's collapse.[10]

The sub-plot featuring Robyn Hill's efforts to obtain supplies to Mantle was a late addition to the Volume's outline.[11]
