Atlesian Military[]

Vine was a member of the Ace Operatives until his death in "The Final Word".

Team RWBY[]

Vine took part in training Team RWBY during their time in Atlas and went on missions together with them. He had shown himself to be, along with Marrow Amin, the ones most fond of the team, being reluctant to fight Team RWBY and even begging for them to peacefully surrender instead, as well as offering Blake and Yang chances to come willingly and unhurt. He continued to show fondness towards them even as the situation got more dire, attempting to resolve matters peacefully before their second fight.

Team JNPR[]

Vine took part in training the members of Team JNPR, particularly Lei Ren, Jaune Arc and Nora Valkyrie in combat during their time in Atlas.

Ace Operatives[]

Clover Ebi[]

Clover was Vine's leader. Although their exact relationship was unknown, Vine followed his orders during missions and trusted him when in dangerous situations. However, given the Ace Operatives' general view of each other as colleagues rather than friends, it is likely that he never grew that emotionally attached to Clover.

After Clover's death, Vine, alongside his other teammates, went to bid his former leader farewell in "Divide".

In "Worthy", Vine began to believe that Clover may have been mistaken in his absolute loyalty to Ironwood.

Elm Ederne[]

Elm was Vine's teammate. He and Elm had a casual relationship and they got along very well. In "With Friends Like These" Vine served as the voice of reason when he and Elm fought Yang Xiao Long and Blake Belladonna, offering the Huntresses to stop the fight peacefully. Elm was angered at this, telling him that she wants them to pay for betraying their trust. Elm later told him to stop "going easy on them", which Vine saw as Elm's attempt to convince herself of what she's saying.

In "Ultimatum", Vine tried to comfort Elm after Monstra was destroyed, but she gives him the cold shoulder.

Later in "The Final Word", Vine and Elm work together to stop Harriet from bombing Mantle. After the bomb is armed and Vine plans to sacrifice himself to save the others, he and Elm look at each other one last time before she is forced to watch him die. She was heavily affected by his death.

Harriet Bree[]

Harriet was Vine's teammate.

In "Risk" Vine agreed with Harriet about bombing Mantle to bring Penny back to their side and open the Vault.

In "Worthy", when Harriet sough to finish what Ironwood started by bombing Mantle, Vine intervened, telling her that he no longer sees it as a logical choice and that he also knows Harriet truly cared for Clover.

In "The Final Word" Vine attempted to stop Harriet from going though with bombing Mantle with Elm's help. After they succeed and the bomb is armed anyway, Vine decides to sacrifice himself to save his friends. Harriet is devastated by this as she is forced to watch Vine die.

Marrow Amin[]

Marrow was Vine's teammate, though they were not shown interacting very often, yet Vine joined Elm and Harriet in teasing their teammate after the mission in the Schnee Dust Company Mine 2.

Much later, in "Risk", Vine tried to calm Marrow after he spoke out against Ironwood's ultimatum, saying if it makes Ruby's group agree to their terms, then it's worth it. He wasn't able to keep much of his composure when he witnessed Marrow come a split second from execution before being detained by Winter instead.

In "Creation" Marrow uses his Semblance to detain Vine and the other remaining Ace-Ops. In "The Final Word", however, Marrow mourns Vine's death.

Ironwood's Group[]

James Ironwood[]

Vine was selected by General Ironwood to join the Ace Operatives after acknowledging his skills and abilities as the best in Atlas. Ironwood would later entrust to him the information about Salem, Ozpin and the Relics along with the rest of the Ace-Ops and brought him into the fold as his personal group.

Vine in turn, like his teammates, was loyal to the General and followed his orders without question, as seen where he agreed with his plan to abandon Mantle in favor of saving who they can in Atlas and later followed his orders to forcibly detain and arrest Team RWBY despite having grown close to them during their stay in Atlas.

As seen in "Divide", Vine seemed to be perhaps the most loyal of the Ace-Ops to the General, as seen when he did not flinch or show any expression after Ironwood shot and killed Councilman Sleet, implying that Vine agreed with the General that it was for the greater good and had no qualms with it, unlike a majority of his teammates who showed horror and shock at Ironwood's action.

In "Risk", after Ironwood's announcement about nuking Mantle if Penny doesn't return to Atlas, he was left unnerved with how ruthless Ironwood was becoming but at first believes he is simply bluffing. When he learns Ironwood isn't and was willing to endanger the lives of Mantle's citizens, he became uneasy but still believed that it could successfully make Ruby and the others come out of hiding. He became even more unnerved after Ironwood passed him by after having nearly executed Marrow for denouncing him and his threat towards Mantle.

In "Worthy", when Vine learned that Ironwood had been deposed, he no longer sees the need to follow his orders, and thus begins acting as he sees is logical and just.

Winter Schnee[]

Winter and Vine were both colleagues within the Atlas Military and worked together under Ironwood.

After Clover's death and Winter's assignment as the Ace-Ops' new leader, Vine was shown to have a working relationship with Winter and followed her orders while on missions.
