  • So I'm working on a website mockup for a project. It asks to design a website for another country and to consider the culture's undividual views, since thtat's a useful skill in marketing.

Are there any pointers you could give me? I'm thinking of desiging a mockup of a fundraisin/hawareness promoting site for helping repair the damage from the recent fires.

Anything I should konw, or should I scrap the idea entirely for being out of my depth?

If you don't see this, I'll try to progress ahead, and maybe share it if you're interested afterwards. Apologies in advance for the rushed quality and any mistakes I make.

    • I'm just gonna share what I remember from the actual Bushfire Relief ads, and other ads on disasters I've seen on tv and stuff.

Use images of people and Australian native animals affected by fires, rather than images of buildings. We especially like images of Koalas and baby Kangaroos being supported/cared for by our firefighters.

Put a few simple words in big text, like "Do ypur part to help." or a raw statistoc on how many cattle died, or how much farmland was affected, or how much national parkland was lost. Leave the fancy words for smaller text paragraphs underneath, expanding on the bigger text.

Use desaturated pictures over full colour. Grayscale is fine too, but only if it's a really light picture whoch lots of details to stand out.

As for culture, we 'love' our firefighters and farmers and native animals. We're NOT a fan of our PM, to the point he turned up unannounced in a town affected by fires last year and got told where to go.

    • I'm also going to try skimming some Aboriginal ;myths for anything about rebirth or protteciton to use as a name or logo inspiration. Good idea?

    • There are gum trees in Australia that actually need bushfires to weaken the seed pod, so that the seeds can actually germinate and sprout.

    • Any specific color meaning for Australia I should be aware of?

    • The Aboriginal flag is red, black and yellow, and we tend to use green and gold for Australian teams and stuff.

      Otherwise, not really.

    • huh, been ttrying to avoid red, black, and yellow because of fire, at least outside of the shield shaped snake snake.

    • Thanks for helping out a loser like me.
