  • Creating a new thread since I can't comment on the original, but did are the Autoplay videos gone for anyone else, or is it just me. I haven't been able to check every page that had one (mostly because I can't remember all of them) but I don't see one for any of Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Cinder, or Salem

EDIT: Ok, they're still there on my mobile browser, but I'm not seeing them on my PC browser (I'm using Firefox)

    • They decided to remove Autoplay Videos for users who are logged in due to the backlash they'd received over them. Especially on the wiki's of shows that are ongoing, where their videos became out of date very quickly.

    • Hmm, well, it's not removing them altogether, but it's something I suppose

    • Neat.

    • They're keeping the videos up for people who aren't logged in because the videos actually managed to bring them a lot of money, so they would rather keep them at least partially up while they work on coming up with something else.

    • now if only they'd fix their thumbnails... still no idea why it seems to zoom in on everyone's chest/crotch... it's like "name that pokemon" ridiculous and I really don't want to know the characters by their chesticles or crotch, show faces please, especially on group shots :(

My guess is that it chooses the middle of the image, instead of the top. The reason why the thumbnail for the Characters page perfectly shows Adam's face is because it's a square image, so the center of it is his face. Meanwhile, the individual characters' pages have infobox images that are vertical rectangles, so the center of such an image tends to be in the chest/crotch region.

Basically, it's poor planning from people who didn't pay attention to the fact that many wikis use vertical rectangular images for their character infoboxes.
