Actually, it doesn't matter whether they were national heroes or not. JNPR's theme is genderbends of people who crossdressed at one point; Joan of Arc dressed as a boy in her time in the army, Thor dressed as Freya to get his hammer back from a giant, Achilles dressed as a girl to hide from some people, and Mulan dressed as a man to take her fathers place.
I think you all are thinking too hard.
the only right answer
The way Monty put it is, they allude to people who disguised themselves as the opposite gender in their story.
So... not gender-bent national heroes. Like SYUTK pointed out, Thor is a mythological being, not a national hero.

I suppose it could technically be argured that he's a national hero for the collective Scandi countries. Not convincingly, but it could be made nonetheless.

If Nora was based on Guan Yu, then it could be convincingly argued.
But no, like you said, it can't be argued convincingly. There's a difference between legends, and a God.
Except in cultures where certain national heroes are revered as gods, or in mythology became gods.
Which was the case with Guan Yu, among others......but not the case with Thor.

RWBY Chibi doesn't count. A lot of it is meta-fiction designed to poke fun at (in a fun way) the fandom. The spin the bottle episode in RWBY Chibi is a reaction to fannish speculation about Ren being gay, not the other way around. Look, there's no evidence of Ren being gay. I think Nora will, eventually, get her man.

And we established this months ago... for the record, that post was an attempt to get the thread back "on track", my personal opinion was always that Ren is not gay, but in the interest of fair play, however irrelevant, that was the only evidence we have that he may be.
