"Team SSSN vs. Team NDGO" is a battle that occurred during the Vytal Festival tournament.
Preceding Events
The match was part of the Vytal Festival tournament, and would determine whether Team SSSN of Mistral's Haven Academy or Team NDGO from Vacuo's Shade Academy would move on to the following rounds.
Like all Vytal Festival matches, the venue for the fight was Amity Colosseum.
The Fight
The terrain for the match is half a sun-baked desert wasteland reminiscent of Vacuo's terrain, and half a tropical ocean biome centered round a large shipwreck - much to the horror of Neptune, who has a crippling fear of water.
As the match begins, Neptune scrambles to the top of the opposing team's terrain to get away from the water, to the confusion of both teams. In the ensuing melee, NDGO quickly gain the advantage as Dew Gayl hurls Sage Ayana clear out of the ring by creating a huge gust of wind and dust devils. With help from Neptune, Sun Wukong manages to defeat Octavia Ember using his nunchucks, evening out the match to a 3-on-3 fight.
Scarlet David bests Nebula Violette in a sword duel atop the mast of the shipwreck, before immobilizing Gwen Darcy using a grappling shot from his flintlock pistol. Sun attempts to take out Dew by throwing a pair of coconuts, but she deflects the attack towards Scarlet, hitting him in the face and groin and exhausting his Aura, eliminating him from the match.
As the remaining three members of NDGO regroup in the ocean, Sun finally convinces Neptune to gingerly approach the water's edge. Using electricity from his trident, Neptune electrifies all three opponents in one powerful strike, ending the match.
Trivia
- This fight has an alternate joke ending created by the animators in which the remaining members of NDGO float face down in the water after Neptune electrocutes them.[1]
