Sundered Rose[1] is Summer Rose's signature weapon. It is an axe and rifle hybrid that was first seen in "The Parfait Predicament".
Description[]
Sundered Rose is a black and gold axe. The long handle of the axe is colored black, with gold metal attached to it, forming a gold curved blade. Near the axe's blade is a trigger for the weapon, indicating that the other edge of the weapon serves as a rifle. The stock swivels around, parallel for the blade to extend.
History[]
Sundered Rose was seen hanging on the wall in the Blacksmith's tent in "The Parfait Predicament". Ruby took a special interest in it upon seeing it, after which Summer Rose's reflection was shown in the blade. It was Summer's weapon of choice in the past, which functioned as an axe and rifle hybrid. Sundered Rose later appeared in "A Tale Involving a Tree", as Ruby sees the weapon again alongside the Blacksmith's other weapons and says "Mom", while a voiceover from Summer is heard. Summer is later seen carrying it on her final mission in a vision shown to Ruby in "Of Solitude and Self".
Trivia[]
- It is possibly a reference to the Huntsman, also known as the Woodsman, from Little Red Riding Hood, who protected Little Red Riding Hood from the Wolf using an axe.
- This is the second weapon to have Rose in the name, following Crescent Rose.
- The word sundered means "to have been split apart" while crescent, other than being a shape, also has the meaning "increasing". The names of the weapons, other than describing their shape and function, seem to reflect aspects of their owners, with Ruby still growing as a hero while her mother, Summer, has been split away from everyone she knows and loves.
