Personality[]

Red Prince[]

The Red Prince possesses a very spoiled and bratty attitude. He will often complain when something doesn't go his way and likes his title as the "heir of the Crimson Castle". He also enjoys beheading people for failing him and because it amuses him. The Red Prince has also been shown to enjoy playing games; this being mainly his version of the game Chess and is not above cheating and indeed, even seems to prefer it to playing fair, as he is shown to be very controlling of the Red and White Pawns.

The Red Prince is also shown to hate Humans, believing them all to be inherent cheaters. This was stated to be due to his previous incarnation, the Red King, having been beaten by Alyx via cheating. Because of this, and despite going through Ascension, the Red Prince still retains the emotional scar of the incident.

Although he has a selfish attitude, he can be reasoned with, as the Curious Cat was able to persuade him to allow Team RWBY to leave his castle instead of having them beheaded.

In "The Adventures of Somewhat", it is shown that the Prince became much more subdued after his loss to Team RWBY, sending all the guards of the Crimson Castle away and considering himself not worthy of being their prince. Upon encountering Somewhat, he challenges them to a game, still showing that he believes his purpose is to be win at all cost. Despite this, he does not attempt to cheat his way into winning like last time, showing himself capable of maturity. After a talk with Somewhat, he realizes that he expand on his purpose by not just winning, but teaching others to win as well. Following this, he sees Somewhat off, appearing very grateful for their advice.

Red King[]

The Red Prince (Red King) was described to be very kind and generous. He liked to play his game with people and did so fairly. Due to this, he became very upset when Alyx cheated at the game and caused him to become unstable and unsure with his role. The king being upset is presumably what caused him to ascend from the King into the Prince.

Red Prince shrinks and moves Weiss, Blake and Yang with his powers

The Red Prince, as ruler of the King's Acre, commands the Toy Soldiers, Toy Guards, and Pawns, and they obey his every command. He does not appear to possess much combat prowess, relying on his minions to execute his commands despite his magic. It is possible that he can only use his magic when pertaining to a game, as this is his purpose.

  • Shrinking: By the snap of a finger, the Prince is able to make any individual he wants become small to use as chess pieces on the board. This happens where red smoke would flow from the Prince to his intended targets. Whenever the shrunken people are taken off the board, they do not return to normal size. Likewise, it is unknown if the Prince possesses the ability to restore the original sizes of those he shrinks.
  • Telekinesis: The Red Prince has also showcased the ability to move things with his mind on command. After he shrunk down Weiss, Yang and Blake, they were immediately carried by his red smoke into the game board.

Trivia[]

  • The Red Prince seems to be one of the few Afterans to be referred to by gendered pronouns.

  • Connor Pickens said that the Red Prince would probably hate the color green, as the green sky is the only thing he cannot control.[1]
