Volume 2[]

Breach[]

Yang, we have a lot to talk about.
—Raven, to Yang

Volume 4[]

Family[]

I told you Beacon would fall, and it did. I told you Ozpin would fail, and he has.
—Raven, to Qrow
I lead our people now. And as leader, I will do everything in my power to ensure our survival.
—Raven, declaring what she cares about most
The weak die, the strong live. Those are the rules.
—Raven's philosophy

Volume 5[]

Dread in the Air[]

I think... we just hit the jackpot.
—Raven, capturing Weiss

Lighting the Fire[]

You were patient, determined, and strong enough to make your dream a reality. Well done, Yang.
—Raven, proud of Yang finding her
Family. Only coming around when they need something.
—Raven, about family
You know, it takes real strength to march in here and demand such a favor of me. I've got to say, I'm impressed.
—Raven, on Yang's request of her
Ozpin is not the man you think he is. And Qrow is a fool for trusting him. I would know, I trusted him once, too.
—Raven, warning Yang about "the man behind the curtain"
If you're really going after your sister, then you need to know the truth.
—Raven's request of Yang as the episode ends

Known by its Song[]

Not all of them. Some people are just in it for the money and the fame, but there's even more that are just looking to grow stronger. Your Uncle Qrow and I didn't attend Beacon to become Huntsmen, we did it to learn how to kill Huntsmen.
—Raven to Weiss and Yang, explaining her and Qrow's reason for attending Beacon
I'm giving you a choice. Stay here, with me, and I'll answer all your questions and more. We can have a fresh start. Or... you can go back to Qrow and join Ozpin's impossible war against Salem, and meet the same fate as so many others. But can you really go back to trusting someone that's kept so much from you?
—Raven, giving Yang an ultimatum
Yang. If you side with your uncle, I may not be as kind the next time we meet...
—Raven to Yang, warning before watching her daughter and Weiss enter her portal

A Perfect Storm[]

...and a Fall Maiden with a surname so appropriate, she probably picked it herself. Something tells me you've got more than a slight case of egomania, is that right?
—Raven, to Cinder
I'm not helping Salem. I'm not helping Oz! I don't want a part in any of this!
—Raven, to Cinder
Of course not. They'll never leave us alone. Once our purpose has come and gone, we'll be discarded. Salem only uses people until they are no longer useful. If we want to have any chance of defending ourselves against her, then we need this Relic. If Qrow and those brats want to follow Ozpin, then let them. When the chaos reaches its peak, we'll grab the Relic and make our escape.
—Raven, to Vernal

True Colors[]

Man up! You did what you had to do to survive, there is no shame in that.
—Raven, to Lionheart

The More the Merrier[]

If you're going to shoot me, shoot me. That was insulting.
—Raven, to Ruby's group
Leo did what any sane person would in his position - he looked at all the information he had in front of him, assessed the situation, and made a choice.
—Raven, defending Leo's betrayal to Qrow
All that time spent spying for Ozpin and you still have no idea what you're dealing with. There is no beating Salem!
—Raven, to Qrow
You sound just like your mother.
—Raven, dismissing Ruby's heartfelt plea for working together

Vault of the Spring Maiden[]

You won't find it. Because Vernal isn't the Spring Maiden... I am!
—Raven to Cinder, revealing herself as the real Spring Maiden

Downfall[]

You turned yourself into a monster just for power.
—Raven, to Cinder
If you were stronger or more clever, then maybe... you'd remember to watch your back!
—Raven, to Cinder

Haven's Fate[]

It's not that simple. You don't know me, you don't know what I've been through, the choices I've had to make!
—Raven, to Yang
I've stared death in the face over and over again! And every time I've spat in that face and survived because I'm strong enough to do what others won't!
—Raven, to Yang
Who do you think you are lecturing me?! Standing there, shaking like a scared little girl?!
—Raven, to Yang
I... I'm sorry...
—Raven, to Yang, tearfully after their argument

Volume 9[]

Of Solitude and Self[]

Nobody suspects anything?
—Raven, when meeting with Summer in the woods of Patch
Summer Rose telling lies… first time for everything.
—Raven, commenting about Summer
And… Uh… What about… You’re just going to leave them?
—Raven, to Summer about leaving Ruby and Yang
It’s… You’re better at that life, better than I was…
—Raven, to Summer
Let’s get it over with, I guess.
—Raven, commencing the mission with Summer

About Raven[]

She wanted me to tell you that she saved you once, but you shouldn't expect that kindness again.
—Qrow to Yang, in "Destiny"
Raven's got an interesting way of looking at the world that I don't particularly agree with. And she's dangerous.
—Qrow to Yang, in "Destiny"
Raven was great in so many ways - her strength, her ambition, her dedication to whatever cause she thought was worth fighting for.
—Taiyang to Yang, in "Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back"
Your mother was... a complicated woman. Like everybody, she had her faults, but those faults are what tore our team apart. And, they did a real number on our family. You both act as if the easiest way to tackle an obstacle is through it. That strength is all that matters in a fight.
—Taiyang to Yang, in "Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back"
I get it from my mom.
—Yang, about her stubbornness
Running away was one thing, but this... you've crossed the line!
—Qrow, no longer deeming Raven his family
You know, I've heard so many stories about you, Raven. They say you're a cunning leader, that you're strong, that you're clever.
—Cinder, about Raven in "Vault of the Spring Maiden"
You're right. I don't know you. I only know the Raven dad told me about. She was troubled, and complicated, but she fought for what she believed in, whether it was her team or her tribe! Did you kill her too?
—Yang, about the Raven she knows from Taiyang in "Haven's Fate"
Oh, shut up! You don't know the first thing about strength! You turn your back on people. You run away when things get too hard. You put others in harm's way instead of yourself! You might be powerful, but that doesn't make you strong.
—Yang to Raven, in "Haven's Fate"

RWBY: Amity Arena[]

Like Miss Scarlatina, Ms. Branwen's ability had to be shaped to fit Amity Arena because her brother Qrow told us, "she can't just teleport anyone anywhere,' as he stumbled out of the lobby cantina, vanished, and left us the bill and some... feathers?

Raven always had a choice to make. Life was binary for her from birth and there was ALWAYS... a choice to make. As a sister, a student, a friend, an agent, a wife, a mother, a chief, a mentor and... a survivor, Raven could never find herself in a position where there wasn't a terrifying alternative. Perhaps Raven could be jealous, of those who live with unwavering conviction, of those that believe what they believe is right, of those that do not fear their own weakness. Because all she could ever do... is pray that her choices were the right ones. Wisdom and knowledge are great weights to bear, and for Raven... they became her cage.

"You don't want to do this, Yang."
