"Qrow vs. Harriet" is a battle that takes place in "Worthy" of Volume 8 between Qrow Branwen and Harriet Bree.
Preceding Events[]
Due to the Relic of Creation no longer keeping Atlas afloat, it begins to descend, as Arthur Watts took control of an Atlesian Knight-200 and made it run at Qrow Branwen, Robyn Hill and Marrow Amin who were arresting the Ace Operatives and self-destruct. Marrow threw himself at the exploding drone, taking the damage and causing his Aura to break, freeing the un-arrested Vine Zeki and Harriet Bree. As Atlas continued tilting, the ship with James Ironwood's bomb fell off. Harriet ran into the ship with the bomb out to continue the plan, and Vine followed.
However, insteading of aiding Harriet, Vine tries to calm her down and tell her that this plan is pointless, since Atlas falling, and they might as well let the rest of those in Mantle escape. Harriet argues back, saying that their loyalty to the general is what matters, bringing up their deceased former leader Clover Ebi and saying how he understood that. When Vine says that perhaps Clover was wrong, Harriet gets infuriated and promptly breaks down, finally letting out her sadness at Clover's death. However, before Vine can console her, Robyn followed on another ship and crashed it into theirs. Harriet kicked Vine out and ran to the pilot's seat, but Qrow flies in and smashes through the windshield onto Harriet. The two fall onto the payload below, right next to the bomb, and Qrow tell Harriet that it looks like she is getting the fight she wanted so bad.
The Fight[]
Harriet kicks Qrow off of her, and then leaps at him with a punch. Qrow swiftly blocks it with Harbinger and fights back extremely quickly. He swings at Harriet with the sword, but Harriet ducks and kicks immediately after. Qrow barely manages to block the strike but the force pushes him backward slightly. He takes a split second to regain his composure and swings yet again before Harriet can land a punch on him, forcing Harriet to parry the attack by backflipping off of the bomb. Qrow performs a roundhouse strike with his blade, but barely misses Harriet as she throws herself at the bomb, then springs off of it and kicks Qrow onto the wall next to them. Meanwhile, Watts takes advantage of the situation and takes control of the airship, piloting it back to Mantle so that Harriet can destroy the city. Robyn follows with her airship.
Qrow's stamina lessens a bit as he starts having a harder time keeping up with the extremely fast Harriet. He tries to strike her with his sword, but she ducks the swing easily and punches his side. She then does a jumpkick and Qrow is pushed back onto the wall. Qrow now tries a different approach, telling her that she is making a mistake, and that he regrets deeply what happened to Clover. However, due to Harriet not having been calmed down earlier, she angers even more after that and loosens the straps of the bomb before pounding the ground to tilt the airship so that the bomb may fall off. Qrow immediately jumps in the way of the bomb, trying his best to stop it from falling off the ship while Harriet demands him to get out of the way. However, the ship shakes, and the two fighters look back to see Vine's Aura Vines latching onto the ship with freed Ace Operative Elm Ederne holding him up, assisting Robyn to Harriet's surprise.
Aftermath[]
Elm tells Harriet that they should stop as people are still evacuating in Mantle. Harriet retorts questioning why they're not letting her do her job, to which Elm replies that is because she is their friend and they won't let her go through with this. Elm's words reach Harriet, allowing her to regain her senses and stop fighting. Meanwhile, Qrow, no longer being able to push against the heavy bomb, is forced out of the way and the bomb continues sliding. As a last ditch effort, Qrow pulls out Clover's clover pendant, which glimmers, and the bomb subsequently moves to the side instead of falling out, much to everyone's relief. However, Watts hacks the bomb and sets it to detonate at the count of 30 seconds.
Harriet breaks down once again, saying that she killed all of her friends with her stubbornness, as they can't possibly make it out of the blast range in time. Vine boards the airship and carries Harriet onto the roof of Robyn's, but Elm tells him that he can't do this to himself. Vine, finally showing his care and friendship for his fellow Ace Operatives, says that he can and he will, if it means saving his friends. Harriet cries out while Qrow gives him a last farewell look and flies onto Robyn's ship. Vine extends his vines outward and splits it, the vines coming around the ship and connecting, creating a force-field around the ship. The bomb explodes, and Vine's shield holds, but he perishes in the blast and the force-field as well as the ship itself disintegrates.
