Negative Weiss, also referred to as Nega-Weiss, is the secondary antagonist of RWBY: Ice Queendom. She was the dark aspect of the real Weiss Schnee in Weiss' Dreamscape brought to life by the Nightmare Grimm.

Upon the real Weiss being released from the Nightmare's clutches in "Light in Shadows", her personality faded completely and Weiss woke up in her body.

Appearance[]

Negative Weiss was identical to the real Weiss except she lacked a scar on her left eye, wore her ponytail center and paler skin. She wore an Atlas Military uniform that consisted of a skin-fitted short sleeveless white dress that fastened on the right side, with a hexagonal cut out on the bust alongside several black straps. She had a white short cape that is attached to the dress. She also wore a grey mesh top underneath that has a black snowflake styled design visible through the dress' cutout and the mesh sleeves were mostly covered with white sleeves that had a black strap on the trim. Weiss also sported a flowing white trench coat cape decorated with various black thorn-like and snowflake designs which she wore draped over her shoulders, light gray tights, and white high-heel pumps. In addition, she carried around sky blue sunglasses and wore a white kepi with black visor on her head. Upon being woken up and replaced with Weiss, she lost her kepi and gained her scar over her eye from the real world.

Personality[]

Negative Weiss was a cold, stoic, and fascistic person representing Weiss' worst traits. She was never seen smiling and always had either a calm or angry composure. She strongly feared every Faunus and was complacent in their suffering and saw the White Fang as Grimm-like monsters in her nightmare. Like Weiss, despite being a heartless person, Nega-Weiss did care for her teammates Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long as her precious friends, and even Blake Belladonna with her conflicting feelings on her status as a Faunus. Because of this, however, she wanted to lock them up as a result so as to ensure their protection. She was also willing to protect the Nightmare Grimm despite the danger it placed herself in.

Nega-Weiss also saw the people of Atlas differently from each other like how she saw the upper class and her mother as shadow figures that only watch over the people and don't interact with them while the workers in the city appear more human than them. She also saw the rest of her family differently from their real versions, such as her butler who appeared in different forms throughout the dream with each one representing one of his personalities, her brother whom she saw as a bat due to regarding him as a pest, her sister whom she saw as a book to look up to for guidance, and her father who appeared as an ominous figure that always watched over Weiss while reminding her to live up to Big Nicholas.

In “Where You Belong”, Nega-Weisz became an extremist and lost what little humanity she had left, going so far as to capture all of the Sillies and forcefully putting them back in their place, as well as banishing Yang and Blake to the outside of the kingdom. On top of it, she was also willing to destroy the two relics to prevent the real Weiss from ever waking up.

In “Mirror of Darkness“, Nega-Weiss appeared to have some standards, as when Negative Blake accused her of abusing and murdering Faunus, it left her in shock. Offended by her words, she claimed that she was not a murderer, nor does she hate all Faunus. However, she was shown to be hypocritical as well as despite her claim of not hating Faunus, as she has no problem with banishing them from her home and her previous actions to Blake. She also falsely blamed Nega-Blake and the White Fang for Big Nicholas' destruction, when it was actually Yang who destroyed it, though she had no way of knowing that at the time.

In “Light in Shadows”, Nega-Weiss had a moment of realization and identity crisis upon realizing she became the very thing she hated.

Powers and Abilities[]

Main article: Weiss Schnee#Powers and Abilities

Negative Weiss appears to have the same abilities as the real Weiss at the time the anime took place in, only significantly more powerful, being able to take on the entire rest of her team as well as Jaune all at once (though Jaune and Ruby were made weaker in Weiss' dreamscape), with Blake saying they won't be able to defeat her in direct combat. Shion explained that Negative Weiss is just as strong as she imagines herself to be due to being part of the dreamscape.

She wields an identical sword to her real-world counterpart, which appears to also be more powerful, as she could use it to cover her entire dreamscape city in a storm (although it could simply be due to having a stronger wielder).

Ice Queendom S1 6 00132

Her Grimm summoning.

Semblance[]

Grimm Summoning: Unlike Weiss, she was capable of summoning the creatures of Grimm without defeating them as she was able to summon a horde of Ursai. Additionally, she seemed to have no struggle doing so, while the original Weiss had not yet been able to summon Grimm.

Ice Queendom S1 6 00049

Her Dust summoning.

Dust Summoning: Unlike Weiss, she was capable of summoning a seemingly unlimited amount of Dust vials to reload Myrtenaster.

Teleportation Glyphs: Another unique ability she had is that she could use Glyphs to teleport herself or others to different locations, acting somewhat similarly to Kindred Link.

Others[]

Ice Queendom S1 11 00129

Nightmare’s vines covers Negative Weiss’ body

Nightmare Linked: Negative Weiss was able to sense the Nightmare in danger at least twice and was there to protect it. This may have been a result of the two being linked.

Weaknesses[]

Negative Weiss was incapable of fighting another Nightmare victim, as she had a hard time beating Negative Blake seen in “Mirror of Darkness”. Also, due to her being created by the Nightmare, should it be destroyed, Negative Weiss will disappear as well.

Trivia[]

  • Negative Weiss was designed by anime concept artist Huke.
  • Negative Weiss was the only major character not to have a music theme sung by Casey Lee Williams or any other Roosterteeth singers.
    • She was the only Weiss’ counterpart not to sung “Mirror Mirror” in Casey Lee William’s singing voice like her counterpart in the main series in the Japanese version.
