  • Hey. I wanted to let you know that I undid your edit about Ilia's sexuality in her page's trivia section, but I wanted to do this diplomatically and amicably because this is something that's been done and undone on her page a number of times (by a number of people).

There are very valid reasons people have continued to add this.

    1. CRWBY stated this, so on top of being in the show proper, it's addressed by the creators. Because we can externally cite to it, it establishes good wiki credibility.

    2. Ilia's sexuality is an important aspect of her character, and we should add it to her page.

However, again, this has been undone before, and here is the reason why in Chish's words in the comment section of Ilia's page. It is a response to someone asking why an edit to Ilia's trivia section regarding her sexuality was undone.

    • "Because we don't do "first" trivia, on any page. Putting "This is the first" or "This is the only" in the Trivia sections could lead to the trivia getting clogged up because there's a first for literally everything.
    • Ilia's sexual and romantic preference is mentioned on her Affiliations page in the Blake section. If you can find a good way to slip it into her Personality section, then that would be good."

So while it is important and worthy of adding, it's better off going in her personality section. In trying to find the best satisfactory end to this, I did just that.

I changed "Though she is romantically attracted to Blake, she sacrifices any future of this at the time in favor of what the White Fang demands."

    to

"Though she is lesbian (your ref link) and romantically attracted to Blake..."

I hope this answers all your questions. Thank you for adding the bit about her sexuality. I just wanted to be transparent on why it was changed.

    • I do like the new phrasing and will admit I'm responsible for the old one. I do have a minor question, and the answer doesn't make much of a difference. I felt like phrasing it "Ilia is lesbian" instead of "Ilia is a lesbian" would be better because it seems less accusatory in some way.

What I mean is... It's weird that people say "He is gay" but "She is a lesbian." That makes gay an adjective, but lesbian a noun. To me, it makes 'lesbian' seem a bit more like a label rather than a descriptor. So that's why I didn't put a in front of lesbian.

Do any of you think this distinction matters? To be clear: I'm not opposed to leaving it how DA WP edited it. I rather keep things the way they currently are on Ilia's page. I just wanted the input.

That is because lesbian generally is a noun and gay is generally an adjective. It is also how they use it in the AMA.

  • What other gods would he be talking about?

Ozpin told Qrow that the only real gods are the ones who created the relics.

    • It is an assumption, not a fact. You must know that is the case and everyone on staff must know that as well. Surely, at least some of you are even aware this is a double standard given how you have interpreted "speculation" in the past. Why you all insist on forcing in this misleading link anyway is a mystery to me. Hell, if they are "brothers" and not twin brothers, but brothers born at separate times then that at least suggests there may be a mother god and father god. Lots of reasonable arguments can be given as to why this is not confirmed and should not be assumed to be the case.

Unlike other situations where something is not solidly confirmed, this isn't implied or suggested in-universe to be what he meant by "the gods" and so we should not be presenting it as referring to that lest we deceive the readers into believing something is canon that we can in no way prove. However, in the spirit of compromise, I simply removed the link to the section heading rather than removing the link to the religion page altogether. It is hardly going to dissuade people from wrongly believing we have confirmation the brothers are who he was talking about as no other gods are mentioned specifically on that page, but at least it isn't actively giving readers that false impression.

    • I am fine with this compromise, myself. We may learn of other gods further down the track, and they will be added to the page as they are revealed.

  • It's been noticed that while you are generally active in the forum, you have been mostly inactive in the mainspace for a significant amount of time and not fulfilling the duties of a rollback. We'd like to know if you're interested in remaining a member of the RWBY Wiki staff, even though you've expressed in the past that you don't consider yourself one. If you are interested, please reply that you are. Your edit in the mainspace this morning counts toward becoming active there again, but one or two every few months is not considered so. If you are not interested or don't become more active your name will be put forth for removal of rollback rights in a week.

    • The nomination has concluded, and as a result, your rollback position has been removed per the community vote.

  • Hey there, just to be clear, all articles are looking to avoid phrasing that include uncertainties or speculative voice like "seems" or "apparently" in order have the wiki be a more informative and assertive source. This was a staff decision made months ago and implemented as deliberate edits or whenever seen.

Specifically, for your edit to the Kuroyuri page, this discussion goes into why Ren's parents are being described as dead.

Hope this clears up any confusion!

    • I'm sorry for how all of this has played out. The way the wiki staff operates has changed over the years. It was actually just sometime back that we actually made a Skype group for staff who aren't admins or chat mods (rollbacks, forum mods), and since you were absent from the wiki, you weren't added.

We've recently started involving the community in certain votes, as well.

We've been changing how things work to try to make things more efficient, make the wiki more welcoming, and allow more community input.

    • You don't need to apologize. My concern isn't really about inclusion or credit because it has never been about that for me. I contribute it here because it is, usually, fun to contribute and my annoyance is that some of the issues with the process make it much less fun. Hard to imagine I am the only one to feel that way. People generally work better when any rules or decisions potentially affecting their work are clear and open.

We can hardly say it isn't going to affect them when the story is ongoing. I have seen a number of things that make me think it is influencing their story in various respects, just not in the most obvious ways. Cardin bullying Jaune sort of plays on the inspiration for their characters. Pyrrha being "the invincible girl" plays on her inspiration. Whether JNPR really turns into team "we're all going to die in battle" is another matter. Their endings don't have to be identical, but just bear some resemblance to the point where you can say, "I see what you did there."

But the beast turning good isn’t just a “I see what you did there” moment, it’s a rather pivotal moment that takes place AT THE END of the book, on the same lines with Joan of Arc getting burned and Pyrrha getting an Arrow in the…heel, and Monty has outright denied his characters would end the same way as their counterparts…it seems more likely, to me at least, that Adam would ultimately stay a beast, or that Blake simply won’t have the power to change him…or both.

In fairness, her problem with Sun may no longer stem from her initial misgivings, but are more a reaction to his persistent behavior. She may even be a bit uneasy around him specifically because of his "I do it all the time" remark and I would not blame her for that.

Well yeah, but my point is Weiss might be even more guarded then Blake is when it comes to interacting with people outside of the team (unless she wants to go with them to the dance ofc). It’s not that I’m trying to discount Neptune, but you do things for a crush you wouldn’t normally do…I should know,  so I try and look at her interactions with other characters.

As the latest episode, Blake has approached Velvet and is on good terms with her, Ruby has approached both Jaune and Penny even when the 2 weren’t in the best of moods, and Yang is making Frienemies with Junior ‘s crew. But Weiss hasn’t been shown to pursue friendly banter outside of her team after it was formed, not even seeking out Pyrrha, someone we have been shown she admires. She is still, as far as I can tell, the most reserved to approach other people in a casual sense, and Jaune could act as a, pardon the pun, ice breaker, since Weiss now has a reason to approach him instead of the other way around.
