You shouldn't make a promise you can't keep, Tukson.
—Emerald, using double meaning to reveal her purpose

"Mercury and Emerald vs. Tukson" is a battle that occurred in Tukson's Book Trade, where Tukson attacks Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, who have arrived to kill him.

Preceding Events[]

Roman Torchwick was supposed to dispose of Tukson, who left the White Fang and is planning to escape to Vacuo, but was unable to at the time as he was busy stealing Dust all over Vale. Despite being ordered by Cinder Fall to keep their hands clean, Emerald and Mercury decide to travel to the city to do the dirty work for Roman.

After asking the Shopkeep for Tukson's location, Emerald and Mercury arrive at his bookstore, where Tukson greets the two despite knowing who they are. While Mercury browses any books to read and subtly threatens the Faunus by shutting them loudly, Emerald innocently questions Tukson about his book selection, up until she asks for The Third Crusade, to which Tukson reveals that his store doesn't have it. As the two question how contradictory Tukson's catchphrase is, Emerald and Mercury become more abrasive before finally revealing they are not there to shop for books.

As Mercury dims the lights to conceal what he and Emerald are planning to do, Emerald tells Tukson they know he is leaving Vale, and that the White Fang knows this as well. Emerald continues to asks a few more questions until she asks whether or not Tukson will fight back against Emerald and Mercury, to which he responds affirmatively, beginning the fight.

The Fight[]

The battle appears to barely last 10 seconds. Tukson unsheathes his claws and jumps on the counter as Emerald and Mercury back away holding defensive stances. He then leaps off the counter and charges at Emerald with a slash; she promptly moves out of the way, catching him off-guard and allowing Mercury to kick Tukson with the full impact of Talaria, killing him instantly.

Aftermath[]

After eliminating their target, Emerald and Mercury casually leave the store continuing their day, the latter stealing a comic book he read earlier as a trophy.
