Appearance
He’s a muscular guy with short dark hair and peach eyes. He wears a plain white shirt, peach cargo pants and black sneakers. He also has sheep horns on his head.
Personality
History
Sun Wukong tries to recruit him to help defend Haven Academy from the impending White Fang attack, saying he would love to have someone with his skills on their side. Mata's mother, however, pulls him back inside their house, adamantly telling him he is not going anywhere. Later on, Mata is one of the first few Faunus to join Blake Belladonna after she gives her speech in "True Colors". In "Downfall", it is revealed that Mata knows someone close to him in the White Fang and pleads with them to stop what they are doing.
Trivia
- His name is likely derived from the Spanish name "Mata", meaning "wood" or "a forest".
- "Mata" is also a colloquial term used by some Spanish speakers which generally refers to any vegetation that is larger than grass, but smaller than a tree.
