Mata with the other Faunus during the Battle of Haven.
Sun Wukong attempts recruiting Mata to help defend Haven Academy from the impending White Fang attack, saying he would love to have someone with his skills on their side. Mata's mother, however, pulls him back inside their house, adamantly telling him he is not going anywhere.
Later on, Mata is one of the first few Faunus to join Blake Belladonna after she gives her speech. At Haven Academy, it is revealed that Mata knows someone close to him in the White Fang and pleads with them to stop what they are doing.
