Throughout the production of a series, a lot goes on behind the scenes in regards to planning and design, which often go through multiple stages before resulting in the final version that is seen on screen. Some concepts and ideas can have an effect on the show and characters, and unexpected occurrences during production can also lead to changes and additions to the plans for the show.

Character Basis[]

Lil' Miss Malachite alludes to the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet. This allusion has had the following influences on the character and show:

  • She goes by the name "Lil' Miss".
  • She chose a spider as the symbol for her group.
  • She originally feared spiders.
  • Her first appearance in the show proper show's her sitting whilst eating a desert, which could reference the lines "Sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey" from the original nursery rhyme.

Appearance[]

Lil' Miss' original design by Patrick Rodriguez was considerably lackluster compared to her final appearance in "Uncovered": her clothing colors were more subdued and while her spider tattoo adorned her chest, her overall outfit made her appear like a generic Mistral character. Rodriguez updated the design to incorporate more of the Little Miss Muffet motif, as well as colors inspired by Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame "for no particular reason".[1]
