The world needs spiders. I just made the spiders work for me.

Spider[1] is one of the most powerful crime syndicates stationed in Mistral, under the leadership of Lil' Miss Malachite.

The Group are fought as enemies in the RWBY: Combat Ready card game.

Background[]

While not much is known about the organization's past, it is known that their leader, Lil' Miss Malachite, was once terrified of the group. She overcame this fear by making the Spiders work for her, overthrowing the group's former leader.

Lil' Miss has two daughters, Melanie Malachite and Miltia Malachite, and is implied to have killed the twins' father.

Spider forms an allegiance with the Xiong Family, in which they would stay exclusively in Mistral whilst Xiong would stay in Vale. Spider never intended to honor this deal, however.

At some point, Spider aligned itself with Lady Browning's Preparatory Academy For Girls, hatching a scheme to place spies everywhere across the kingdom of Vale, amassing billions of Lien's worth to push the Xiong Family out of the way and take over the city's underworld.

Operations[]

Spiders are the theme of the group, with every member receiving a tattoo of the spider emblem on their bodies and the symbol being used to mark hideouts and territory. The group prioritized loyalty above all, with those who stepped out of line being killed. To combat this, the group would assign partners through a buddy system, with new members being hazed by more experienced Spiders to follow this conduct.

Outside running a bar in the lower parts of Mistral, the Spiders also had access to various other locations in the city. They were behind the nightclub called The Luck of the Mountains. There, they would make use of a singer called Honey Wine, who would use her Semblance of enchanting others with her song to allow agents to pickpocket patrons. They would also run an illegal gambling operation in the club's basement. Furthermore, Lil' Miss' forces amounted to a small army, allowing her to operate without the Mistral City Council keeping an eye on her and making her the second most powerful force in the city outside of the Headmaster of Haven Academy himself.

Lady Browning's Preparatory Academy For Girls provided a spy network for Spider in the City of Vale.

Honey Wine eventually leaves Mistral under Lil' Miss' permission, opening a proper club called the Harmony Club, which would provide her information as well.

They pressured several black market stores, such as Broken Memories, which reverse-engineered Atlesian shipment for the organization.

History[]

RWBY: Roman Holiday[]

After a young Roman Torchwick is captured by agents Brick and Mortar, alongside a small legion of Spiders, because of his actions against the Spider in The Luck of the Mountains, he is taken to see Lil' Miss Malachite. There, Lil' Miss decides that she sees enough potential in Torchwick to find some work in him, and gives him a choice of what sort of person he wants to be.

Some point after this, the group allies itself with the Kuchinashi organization, Wave and it's leader, Lemon, conduction a heist on an Atlesian shipment in the city of Argus, stealing a newly-created fabric material that adapted to light, making the wearer invisible. Spider stole the entire shipment underneath Wave's nose, thus iinvisibility cloaks became commonplace amongst their spy network in Mistral.

Roman Torchwick and Chameleon, partners, are assigned to spy on Jack Plum, an old rival of Lil' Miss who is in leagues with a Mistrali councilman. The two fail to do so, and Chameleon's face is heavily scarred in the ensuing fight. The two escape with their lives.

Four years later, Spider goes into a war with a rival gang, The Mouse and Parrot. During it, Lil' Miss assigns 22-year old Roman to protect her daughters, Melanie and Miltia, known as the Malachite Twins. However, Chameleon and Roman goes behind Lil' Miss' back and tries to leverage the two girls to their leader, Paul Parrot, but fails to intimidate the man, who locks Miltia in a basement with a Capybara – a rat-like Grimm. Roman saves Miltia, and the group is saved by Spider, but Roman and Chameleon are punished by Lil' Miss. Soon, Spider wins the war with The Mouse and Parrot.

Six years later, Roman hatches a scheme, collecting double payments without his boss’ permission. When he attempts to pressure the Broken Memories, he is stopped by Chameleon, who has been sent by Lil' Miss to assassinate him. Her morality prevents her from doing so, and he escapes to Vale.

Lil' Miss sends out her daughters to Vale to Lady Browning's Preparatory Academy For Girls, where they hone their skills - both to assassinate Roman Torchwick and ready for the Vale takeover plan. She also calls in a favor from Honey Wine, who now operates in Vale, to give her information.

With the unwilling help of a young Trivia Vanille, going by Neopolitan, Spider tracks down and captures Roman, but soon loses him when she rescues her friend. Learning Neo has stolen a hard drive containing their plans, Spider and Browning's Academy pursue the two, with the Xiong Family intervening to wipe out their rival.

In a climactic confrontation at the Vanille Estate, Torchwick sells the hard drive to Lisa Lavender and the police, exposing Spider's Vale plan to the public. Lil' Miss unintentionally destroys the building, seemingly killing Lady Beat and Hei Xiong, the Xiong Leader. With both Lady Beat's Academy in shambles, Lil' Miss and Spider retreat to Mistral, abandoning their expansion plan in Vale and leaving the Academy to rot.

Volume 6[]

One day, Cinder Fall enters a bar owned by Lil' Miss Malachite, looking for Lil' Miss. Although her bodyguards are against letting Cinder approach, Cinder offers stolen Lien to Lil' Miss. Lil' Miss Malachite agrees to speak with her, and Cinder requests that, in exchange for the money, Malachite and the Spiders would track down the students from Beacon academy: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long, Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. Lil' Miss Malachite agrees.

Cinder is then startled by shouting, only to realize it is just some of the bar patrons welcoming a newcomer. Malachite observes this and offers advice to Cinder - if you fear something, do not destroy it; make it serve you. She explains that she was afraid of spiders, but had made the spiders work for her. Cinder looks around the bar to realize every patron is tattooed with the Spiders' emblem. She proceeds to leave. One of Malachite's bodyguards then asks her why she did not tell Cinder that they were hired by "the big guy" to find the students and already succeeded. Lil' Miss Malachite explains it is because they do not know who Cinder is or who may be looking for her.

Later Cinder once again returns to the tavern, where Lil' Miss Malachite reveals that Ruby's Group have taken a train to Argus and are likely headed to Atlas. Satisfied, Cinder attempts to leave and follow the group, but before she could Lil' Miss reveals that she had already figured out Cinder's true identity and also reveals that she had successfully found another customer who wanted to know Cinder's Location, Neopolitan. After Cinder and Neo begin to fight each other in the bar however, Lil' Miss Malachite and the other members of the organization stopped them and told them to take their fight outside.
