Of all the Remnant inhabitants, Jaune is the one that Jessica forms the closest bond with. When everyone was splitting up to take care of various missions, Jaune was the only one to offer to go with her to search for her ring. Jaune also gave her multiple pep talks during their time together to help her unlock her Semblance and it is due to this that they were able to find out the truth of the world they were in as well as be able to return home.
Jessica allowed herself to be vulnerable with Jaune but, in the interaction with the fake Pyrrha, Jaune carelessly reminded her that she couldn't use her powers which hurt Jessica and sent her further into depression. When Jaune realized he was wrong, he was able to talk her up and get her into full hero mode once again.
Before leaving the simulation, Jaune and Jessica exchange a caring look as if to say goodbye.
