Origins[]
- The following is an exerpt from Jessica Cruz (Prime Earth) on DC Database. Please see this page for more detailed information on the character's origins and past.
On Earth, during a hunting trip with her friends, Jessica came upon mobsters hiding dead bodies in the forest. Not wanting witnesses, the mobsters chased down Jessica and her friends. Jessica managed to escape and survived the encounter, but her friends were murdered by the mobsters. This caused her to be traumatized by the event and, as a result, she locked herself in her room for the next four years and developed an extreme anxiety in the process.
During the Crime Syndicate's rule, she was unwillingly chosen by the Ring of Volthoom, after its former bearer, Harold Jordan of Earth 3, was killed by Sinestro. Unlike the ring's predecessors, the ring forced itself upon Jessica and took over her body. Under the influence of the ring, she attacked her home town and was confronted by the Justice League and Doom Patrol. Through the intervention of Batman, Jessica was able to overcome the ring's influence when he told her that he was a victim like her and that finding strength, even at their worst moment of despair, will overcome their fears.
Allying herself with the Justice League, the Flash called in Hal Jordan, Earth's first Green Lantern, to teach Jessica how to stay in control of her ring. With Hal's help, Jessica mastered the use of the foreign ring.[1]
Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part One[]
Arrival on Remnant[]
Jaune, Nora and Ren found Jessica with The Flash, Vixen and Cyborg in the Beacon Academy dorms when Jessica was crying because she couldn't find her ring. The three Remnant natives took the new arrivals to see Glynda Goodwitch who held a class on Aura, Semblance, and Dust. This ended in a sparring match between JNR and the Justice League members. During the match, Jessica tried to summon her powers and activate her Semblance, though to no avail. She felt weak and useless without her ring. Cyborg shielded her in a barrier until the end of the fight when Superman and Wonder Woman were reunited with their friends.
Search for the Ring[]
After a planning session in the weapons locker room, everyone split up with Jessica and Jaune going to look for her ring in Ozpin's office, which Ruby said she saw on his desk. However, by the time they got to his office, her ring was gone, which further depressed Jessica. But Jaune, similar to how Pyrrha taught him, tries to help Jessica unlock her Semblance. He gets her to focus on how she felt when using her ring. Concentrating on her power, she appeared in a white void, with Jaune unable to see it before being pulled in with her. They come to the realization that the room, and the whole world they're in, is nothing but an illusion. The two are then attacked by a Seer. Jaune goes to attack, but it grabs him by the neck. Jessica leaps into action and throws Jaune's shield at the tentacle holding him, severing it and freeing Jaune. The shield continues on and hits a wall, causing a crack to appear which the two use to escape the Seer and into the halls of Beacon.
Meeting Pyrrha?[]
After escaping the Seer, Jaune and Jessica wander Beason, lost in the maze of its gigantic hallways. During this time, Jaune hears Pyrrha calling out to him. He responds, telling her she's not real and he knows it. Jessica, confused by Jaune's behavior, inquires about Pyrrha and how important she must be to him. Jaune reluctantly accepts Pyrrha's help after she calls out to him again. A door appears, leading into a lecture hall. It's in here that Jaune finds Pyrrha. He rushes to her and they embrace each other. Jaune tearfully tells her she can't be here, though she reassures her that she is and she'll explain later. Jessica is skeptical about accepting her help, but Jaune trusts her and allows her to lead them to a shortcut to the others while also reminding Jessica that she cannot access her powers and that they could use the help. She makes a door appear and ushers Jaune and Jessica through it. But when Jaune asks about whether she's coming, Pyrrha's true nature is revealed and she states in a robotic voice that she will not allow them to reveal the truth to the other. She then closes the door and locks them in what is essentially a utility closet.
Final Battle[]
Going Home[]
After Kilg%ore's defeat, his process is no longer running in the background of the Remnant simulation. Using the program Weiss and Batman worked on earlier, Jessica is able to use her Semblance to open portals to Atlas and the Hall of Justice, though it takes a fair amount of concentration to keep the portals open. Jessica gives Jaune an appreciative look before he travels back home. Jessica is not seen leaving the simiulation since she has to hold the portals open, but it is assumed she left after everone else.
