Fort Arrowfell was a location in RWBY: Arrowfell and served as the final level of the game. It was a former Atlesian Military base that was developing a secret weapon to attract the Grimm.

By the time of the game events, it was abandoned until Bram Thornmane and members of his conspiracy used the base as their stronghold, until his arrest at the hands of Team RWBY. Afterwards, it was abandoned once more.

It is unknown what happened to the base following the destruction of Atlas in "The Final Word".

Description[]

Fort Arrowfell was shown to be a large military base located in the tundra of Solitas. Outside, the base was shown to have metal walls and a large gate that served as the front entrance. Access to the base could normally only be granted by using four nexus cards held by the "Keepers of Arrowfell". However, this was difficult due to the identities of the Keepers being kept a closely guarded secret.

Inside the base, it was shown to be made up of hallways and labs with bronze coloring known to have been used in the past when Mantle was still the capital of the Kingdom. At the deepest section of the base was a lab with light blue coloring where much of the technology was originally developed in.

History[]

Sometime in the past, Fort Arrowfell was an active Atlas Military base where many weapons were created at. Among these weapons were orbs that could act as bait for the Grimm when negative emotions were stored inside them. However, these weapons were later deemed too dangerous, and the base was mainly abandoned by the military with only a team of Huntresses known as the "Keepers of Arrowfell" still having access to it. The Keepers would later go by the name Team BRIR and their identities were a closely guarded secret that James Ironwood's predecessors took with them to the grave.

Years after the base was abandoned, Bram Thornmane managed to somehow enter the base and stole the orbs that attracted the Grimm. This later alerted Team BRIR as they attempted to hunt down and eliminate the person responsible for it. Thornmane, who was the leader of a conspiracy against Ironwood, used this to his advantage and lied to them that Team RWBY were the thieves and paying them to eliminate them in the process.

Later when Thornmane was exposed as the true mastermind of the conspiracy, he and his fellow co-conspirator Lieutenant Colonel Olive Harper used Fort Arrowfell as their stronghold. When Team RWBY and the Atlas Military attempt to access the base, they learn that they need the four nexus keys to the entrance each held by a member of Team BRIR in order to enter. They learn that Team BRIR were in the "Crystal Nexus", a group of vast, connected tunnels underneath the tundra of Solitas that they used to get around the continent and that they were blocked by four electromagnetic locks. With the help of Penny Polendina, Team RWBY managed to enter the Crystal Nexus and learn from each member of Team BRIR that they finally realized that Thornmane had lied to them and gave them the nexus keys to them as a way of apologizing.

After they use the keys and gain access to Fort Arrowfell, Team RWBY are forced to fight off multiple members of the conspiracy in order to reach Thornmane including corrupt Atlas Soldiers, Atlesian Knight-200s, Atlas mobster goons, enhanced Atlesian Paladin-290s, large Orb-shaped robots, and the creatures of Grimm attracted by the orbs. When they find Harper however, they find her in tears and remorseful of what she had done while revealing that she originally believed that Thornmane's plot was the best course of action to help the people of Atlas and Mantle before she finally realized that he lied to her too and realized that Ironwood had a good reason to deny Thornmane the position of being a member of the Ace Operatives. As she stated her intentions to turn herself in, she wished Team RWBY good luck as they left to confront Thornmane.

When Team RWBY reach the lab at the deepest part of Fort Arrowfell, they find Thornmane waiting for them and engage him in battle. As the fight progresses, Thronmane uses both his regular combat skills and the orbs to attract Grimm to distract Team RWBY from his attacks. Ruby Rose asks Thornmane why he was doing all of this as he told them that he grew to despise Ironwood when he was denied a position in the Ace Operatives, due to wanting to be seen as a hero and be admired by the people. Despite his efforts, Team RWBY defeat him as the Atlas Military arrive to arrest him. When Ironwood confronted Thornmane himself and revealed that both Team BRIR and Harper had abandoned him, he also realized that he was never targeting Amity Communications Tower and was using the orbs to start Grimm attacks across the Kingdom to make Ironwood look bad to the people. Ironwood told Thornmane that his plot only exposed more of the corruption within the Kingdom including individuals like Amoncio Glass and Hanlon Fifestone. As the military arrested Thornmane, he shouted that it would only be a matter of time before the people of the Kingdom see him for who he really was before being taken away. Following this, Ironwood congratulated Team RWBY for completing their first big mission as Huntresses and the team celebrated their victory.
