"End of the Beginning" is the theme played throughout the RWBY episode "End of the Beginning" and is incorporated in the RWBY: Volume 3 Soundtrack.

Composition[edit | edit source]

The piece that plays during the battle between Cinder Fall and Pyrrha Nikos is named "Do You Believe In Destiny?" and incorporates numerous themes from the soundtrack. Composer Alex Abraham describes it as "almost like a musical battle" between "Cinder's Theme", originally composed by Jeff Williams, and the "Next Fall Maiden" theme, a leitmotif associated with the Maidens and originally heard in the score of "Fall".[1]

Other themes incorporated in the score include the Grimm theme. This Grimm theme was first heard in the score of "Mountain Glenn", when the Goliaths are first glimpsed, and notably used in "PvP", under the name "Threat Level: Nine", and is reprised in this episode score, when the Wyvern is shown smashing through the exterior of the tower.[1]

The string ostinato figure played when the scene cuts to Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee returning to Beacon in an attempt to help Pyrrha is derived from the verse melody of "Time to Say Goodbye".[1]
