Team RWBY[]
Ruby Rose[]
Curious Cat protecting Ruby
They decide to save Ruby after taking interest in her when she defeats the Red Prince. They are willing to help Ruby and her friends escape the palace. They appears to be protective towards her as they manage to save her again in "A Cat Most Curious".
In "Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds", it becomes strained after Jaune told Ruby and Weiss that the Cat was lying to them. The Cat reveals to Ruby that they were aware that she was just using them to get the Great Tree just like Alyx did. They sadly leave Ruby and her friends since they feel they aren’t wanted anymore.
Curious Cat betrays Ruby
Later in "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", the Curious Cat reveals themselves to seemingly save Ruby from Neo. However, they would soon reveal their true nature to Ruby, declaring that they had been attempting to wear Ruby down in an attempt to possess her body to leave the Ever After and find their makers. This reveals that the Cat's attempts to 'protect' Ruby from the Red Prince's soldiers, the Herbalists' hallucinogens, and Neo, were merely to prevent her from ascending, while allowing the stress of these experiences and their own questions regarding Team RWBY's defeats in Remnant to chip away at Ruby's mental state until she was vulnerable enough to become a suitable host. The Cat showed no qualms in hurting Ruby, violating her by digging its claws into her chest to possess her soul. Though they did briefly panic when Ruby ascended, though primarily due to having needed her as a host for them to escape.
In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, when they found out that Ruby is in a process of ascension, they decided to make her their vessel again as they are planning to rip out the branches her wooden statue and make her take them with her to Remnant.
In “Of Solitude and Self”, they are delighted to see that Ruby has emerged from the Great Tree and attacks her, but Ruby managed to regain her will to fight and overpowers the Cat. And after they are defeated by the fully reunited Team RWBY, they make one last attempt to emotionally break Ruby, reminding her of her failures, but it fails. They try to lunge for her but are consumed by a horde of Jabberwalker clones conjured by Neo as Ruby watches in horror.
Weiss Schnee[]
Curious Cat comments that they find Weiss to be the worst of the group.
Yang Xiao Long[]
During the fight in the Great Tree, they decide to torture Yang's mind by making corrupt clones of Ruby as a consequence to what if she comes out an entire different person, which makes Yang even angrier.
Team JNPR[]
Jaune Arc[]
The Curious Cat knew Jaune a long time ago after their encounter with Alyx and her brother Lewis. However, their relationship with him is heavily strained as Jaune believes they betrayed him. After years went by and the Cat was reunited with him, they look happy to him again, however this happiness is not reciprocated.
They also don't accept Jaune's judgment nor his account of The Girl Who Fell Through the World as fact, and only seemed excited about the prospect of the book when Team RWBY told them about it. They explain it by describing Jaune as "a few sandberries short of a picnic these days". It likely that this is a form of denial and coping for the Cat, after being betrayed and hurt by Alyx.
Later after Jaune and the others witness Ruby ascend, the huntsman demanded the Curious Cat to take them to her. The cat was annoyed by Jaune, in that the Rusted Knight still did not understand the Tree was "not a place you go, but a place you know." Additionally when Jaune tried to stop them from possessing Neo, they expressed how tired they were of Jaune's pitiful story.
In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, when Jaune blamed them for all of the malicious deeds since coming to the Ever After, the Cat pointed out that Jaune was no better as he played himself as a noble knight. They mind-guilt Jaune during their battle as they transform into Penny to prevent Jaune from killing them, and later created another clone based on Pyrrha to hurt Jaune even further, which even smirks, hinting that the Afteran enjoyed hurting him.
In “Of Solitude and Self,” Jaune plays a role in defeating the Curious Cat by forcing them out of Neo's body.
As shown after their defeat, The Cat's experiences with Jaune and Alyx had also caused them to develop a negative opinion of humans in general, viewing them all as "weak, broken, confused and incomplete".
Afterans[]
Red Prince[]
They seems to have a good relationship with the Red Prince since he was the one who doesn’t have a hostile intention towards them. They manages to calm him down. The Red Prince trusts the Curious Cat's judgment, as he is willing to listen to their advice to not behead Team RWBY.
Little[]
The Curious Cat, being feline was interested in the mouse, due to their predatory traits. Though after seeing that Little was spoken for by Team RWBY, he lost interest. After the Curious Cat openly displayed their nefarious intentions to possess Ruby, Little bit their tail to stop them. The Cat, more annoyed than hurt, flicked their tail to get rid of the mouse.
Herbalist[]
It seems they had a close relationship with the Herbalist as they call him “Herb” for short. The cat was strongly against what the Herbalist was doing to Team RWBY. After the Curious Cat saved Team RWBY, they felt sorry for the Herbalist so they give the caterpillar a piece of their heart to ease him. They didn’t react when the Herbalist gets swallow up by the ground. When it was later revealed they were trying to mentally break Ruby, it is implied it ascended the Herbalist to ensure their potential host didn’t.
Jabberwalker[]
Like Little and the other Afterans, they are afraid of the Jabberwalker. However, they put their fears aside, keeping the Jabberwalker’s clones at bay while Ruby and her friends escaped.
When the Cat was surrounded by clones of the Jabberwalker in “Of Solitude and Self”, they were shown to be fearfully begging for their life before being devoured. Later, the Jabberwalker was revealed to have been created by The Gods following the Curious Cat. As explained by the Blacksmith, it was made as the Cat’s antithesis, with the purpose of “finishing what the Cat started” by devoring Afterans and preventing them from ascending.
Others[]
The Gods[]
The Curious Cat is created
In "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", the Curious Cat reveals that they are a creation of the Gods. Upon their leaving of the Ever After, the cat's curiosity drove them mad on why they left and wished to find them to get the answers they seek. They also showed anger in that no sooner did the Gods leave, they went on to create Remnant and Humanity.
As shown in “Of Solitude and Self”, the Curious Cat was created by the Gods to be a replacement for them after they outgrew their role in maintaining the Ever After, made to find the “broken” pieces of the realm and fix them.
After the Brothers left the realm without explanation, the Cat would wonder why they abandoned them and the Ever After. Due to this, along with their negative experiences with Alyx and Jaune, the Cat developed a level of contempt and hatred for the Brothers' other creations.
Alyx[]
The Curious Cat traveling with Alyx, Lewis and Jaune years ago
According to Blake, they were the one who helped Alyx on her journey and find a way back to her original world. The cat remembered her and was greatly amused that the girl wrote about her experience in the Ever After. While they were an ally of Alyx the cat found her to be somewhat distracted by trivial things.
In “Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds”, their relationship with Alyx wasn’t completely truthful as Alyx lied to the Cat, promising to take them to Remnant but abandoned them. They were both hurt and betrayed by her.
The Curious Cat killed Alyx for a broken promise
However, as revealed in “A Tale Involving a Tree“, The Cat had not been entirely truthful about what had happened. Originally, the Cat had accompanied and successfully guided Alyx and Lewis to the Great Tree and made it to the entrance of the Door leading back to Remnant. But during the trip, Alyx had spoken to the Great Tree and had a crisis of conscience, feeling deep remorse for all the damage she had done in her ruthless quest to return home, which compelled Alyx to no longer return to Remnant with Lewis. While Lewis went ahead through the Door, Alyx explained to the Cat about why she no longer wanted to return home to the Remnant and her new desire to fix what she had broken in the Ever After, specifically how she wanted to help Jaune and apologize to him. The Cat, realizing that Alyx no longer was planning to keep her promise to them, was enraged for her “betrayal” and proceeded to kill her in a fit of rage.
When confronted by Team RWBY and Jaune, they express vitriol over Alyx’s choice and addressed her as a “cowardly wretch”. As shown, the Cat feels no outward remorse for having killed Alyx and even described her as a "broken, useless thing".
As shown after their defeat, The Cat's experiences with Alyx had also caused them to develop a negative opinion of humans in general, viewing them all as "weak, broken, confused and incomplete".
Lewis[]
There was not much interaction between the Curious Cat and Lewis, but they were traveling companions years ago. When Jaune demand to know what happen to Lewis, they refuse to answer him back. This originally implies that they either have no idea what happen to him since Alyx left the Ever After or they do but are in denial due to being hurt and betrayed by Alyx.
In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, they reveal they didn’t do anything to Lewis as he went back to Remnant completely unscathed, whereas it was Alyx who stayed behind, and to whom they killed due to feeling that she betrayed them by deciding not to leave the Ever After.
Neopolitan[]
Curious Cat decides to make Neo their new vessel
While the Curious Cat knows very little of Neo, no sooner after they were prevented from possessing Ruby, they discovered Neo to be a more suitable empty host, with the Cat mocking her and gleefully tells her what they’re going to do to her, Neo had enough presence to be horrified by this, as they proceeded to possess her painfully until they gained full control of her body and powers to escape the Ever After.
In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, the Curious Cat learns that Neo is unable to leave Remnant due to her not having any attachments to Remnant, causing them to call her “useless.” Still, they use her abilities to try and free Ruby from the tree so they could possess her once again, leading to a fight between them and Team RWBY and Jaune.
The Cat unable to handle Neo’s regrets and pain
In “Of Solitude and Self,” the Curious Cat is forced out of Neo’s body after Team RWBY and Jaune have them inhale smoke from burning leaves from the tree, which causes her feelings to resurface. As shown, the Cat was overwhelmed by Neo’s feelings of regrets and pain, greatly surprising and disgusting the Cat and caused them to quickly fall into panic as they tried to block all of it out. Eventually, the Cat couldn’t process nor handle Neo’s trauma, pain and regrets and willingly exited from her body.
Realizing what was about to happen, the Cat begs for mercy, but this falls on deaf ears.
After they are defeated, Neo gets her revenge on them by conjuring a horde of Jabberwalkers to devour them to their horror.
