"Boba" is the fourth and final episode of RWBY Volume 9: Beyond. It premiered on Rooster Teeth on April 27th, 2024.

In the city of Vacuo, Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long walk through the streets together.
Ruby: So what exactly is this big surprise all about?
Yang: (holds her arm behind her head) I wouldn't call it big exactly.
Ruby: Wh-what? You've been hyping it up since-
Yang: It's actually kind of small?
Ruby: So, a small surprise?
Yang: It's more exciting than a surprise.
Ruby: So I should be excited?
Yang: (looks away) But not too excited? Ugh. I don't know. Maybe it's dumb.
Ruby: Got it. Setting expectations moderate for a surprise that may or may not be cool.
Yang: Perfect.
Yang looks around awkwardly.
Ruby: (suspiciously) Why are you being weird?
Yang: I'm not weird, you're the weird one! It's just... been a while since we got to do the sisterly thing.
Ruby: You're right. And if you make this no fun, (turns chibi) I probably just won't ever wanna be sisters again. (laughs) See how dumb that sounds?
Yang lightly hits Ruby.
Ruby: Oww.
Vacuan 1: Uh, excuse me, are you Ruby?
Ruby and Yang notice that a crowd has started to gather around Ruby.
Ruby: (nervously) Yep, that's me. I'm a Ruby.
Vacuan 1: You're the girl who sent the message! The one who brought the world together!
Vacuan 2: Oh my goodness, can we take a picture?
Yang winks as Ruby as she walks over to the Vacuans.
Ruby: (stuttering) Oh- uh, yeah, happily! Okay, um, uh, where do you want to take it? Am I taking the photo?
Yang smiles as Ruby talks to the Vacuans. Later, the two continue walking towards Yang's surprise.
Ruby: I am never getting used to that.
Yang: Still wanting those normal knees, huh? (shrugs) Personally, I think it's about time everybody knew how cool my sister is.
Ruby: I never imagined all this. Here in Vacuo, they need more than a mascot.
Yang: (looking down) It's not... too much?
Ruby: (unaware of what Yang said) Oh. My. Gosh. Seriously, Yang?! (excited) You brought me to Bubba Bubba Boba?!
Ruby points to the Bubba Bubba Boba building excitedly.
Ruby: Oh, the flavors, the milk teas, the smoothies, the (dramatically) boba.
A chibi Ruby looks excitedly as the background shows different flavors the establishment offers, sparkles shining around her. The background changes to realistic images of smoothies and boba. Ruby's chibi appearance remains as the background fades out to show Yang smiling at her.
Yang: So is it the right amount of exciting?
Ruby: Are you kidding? Why did you even downplay this!?
Ruby and Yang, now sitting at a patio seat, enjoy their boba.
Ruby: Ugh, that brought back so many memories.
Yang: Apparently they closed up shop in Patch and relocated here with the rest of the refugees from Vale.
Ruby: Remember how we used to come here with Dad after school?
Yang: (laughs) It used to be a once-a-month treat, but by the time we were done at Signal, it was almost twice a week. (looks at Ruby) Do you... wonder why he's not here, with everybody else? I know Qrow said he's on assignment, but what's more important than here?
Ruby: (stops drinking her boba) Maybe we don't have the full picture.
Yang: I don't know. Some things you just need to be there for. Ruby, about what happened in the Ever After...
Ruby: Uhh, which part?
Yang: (looks down) I don't need an explanation, I think I get it. It doesn't even matter if I do, completely.
Ruby: Yang, I-
Yang: I understand my part in you feeling like you couldn't talk to anybody about what you were going through, and I know it's hard to even know what you're going through when you're in the middle of it. I just need you to know (starts smiling at Ruby) you're not alone. You can't be alone, not with the world the way that it is, and not with what we and our team have all been through.
Ruby and Yang smile at each other, as Yang continues talking.
Yang: We're not going back to the version of Team RWBY where you put everything on your shoulders, where we put everything on your shoulders. From now on, we do it together.
Yang puts her left arm on Ruby's shoulder.
Ruby: As it turns out, the hardest thing about being a leader is asking for help. I thought I wasn't allowed.
Yang pulls Ruby into a hug.
Ruby: Thank you, Yang. (lets go of the hug) Bad news, though. I still don't know how to do it.
Yang: (laughs) Well, maybe we need a code word so we know when we're feeling overwhelmed, but don't know how to ask?
Ruby: (thinking) How about... Boba?
Yang: Yeah, Boba.
The sisters go back to sipping their boba happily, as the camera pans up to show Shade Academy in the distance.
Ruby: By the way, you promised we would go shopping, like, weeks ago, when's that happening?!
Yang: That's your priority right now?
