She's not protecting me, Adam. And I'm not protecting her. We're protecting each other.
—Blake, to Adam

"Blake and Yang vs. Adam" was a battle that occurred across "Stealing from the Elderly", "The Lady in the Shoe" and "Seeing Red".

Preceding Events[]

In order to enact their plan to steal an Atlesian airship, Yang Xiao Long drives Blake Belladonna into the forest where the Argus relay tower stands, in order to disable the radar so they could discreetly head for Atlas. But when contact with Blake is lost and the plan becomes compromised, Yang heads in her direction, unaware of the dangers ahead.

The Fight[]

Radar Tower[]

With Blake alone and vulnerable, Adam Taurus makes his move against her in the radar tower, causing her to drop her Scroll as she tries to flee. Blake runs behind cover, only to find a dead Atlas guard, much to her horror as she backs away to the railing, only for the assailant to fire at her. Blake takes cover before searching for the assailant and to her horror, finds Adam, who is a floor below her sheathing Wilt and Blush. As Adam gleefully revels in having the chance to fight Blake alone, she fires several shots at him, which he easily blocks. Blake runs to the railing and attempts to slide down the tower using the cable, only for Adam to slice it down using his Semblance, causing her to fall to the floor Adam's in. Adam lunges in for the kill while Blake tries to defend herself by dodging and blocking his attacks.

Once Blake kicks Adam away, he angrily accuses her of ruining his life, to which she retorts that he stalked her all over Anima and she wants nothing to do with him. Blake continues to evade Adam's attacks along with another strike of his Semblance and climbs back the floor she was on using her Shadow clones. Once there, she goes to the railing to search for Adam, only for him to catch up to her and fire Wilt at her face. Once Adam catches his sword, Blake swings around the floor to take Adam by surprise, causing the two to clash again, up until the two lock blades and Adam throws Blake before delivering a Moonslice slash to finish her off. Blake dodges the attack and goes up another floor, only for Adam to suddenly appear right in front of her and grab her by the neck, holding her against the railing until Blake pushes herself and Adam off with her foot and lets each other fall, crashing through the tree branches onto the forest floor. Getting back up, Blake asks Adam to let go of the past and move on, but he refuses, believing that she is throwing their memories away after everything he had done for her. As Adam makes it clear he's never letting go of Blake again, the two former partners take up defensive stances, and prepare to battle against each other.

The Forest/The Waterfall[]

Continuing their battle in the forest, Adam ferociously attempts to land fatal strikes on Blake as she diverts his attacks and uses her Semblance to avoid hits at the last second. As she locks blades with Adam, Blake hears an explosion from far away, almost giving Adam the opportunity of striking her down. After dodging more of his strikes, Blake then attempts to run away from Adam, switching Gambol Shroud in its kusarigama form and throwing it to swing from tree to tree as Adam gives chase. Taunting Blake, Adam continues to pursue her until he launches Wilt to shoot down Gambol Shroud mid-air, throwing Blake off as he leaps into the air, attempting to strike her down. However, Adam only manages to destroy her tailcoat, which Blake takes off before kicking Adam off of her and shooting him several times once she lands.

Eventually, the two leap out of the forest and take the battle on a stone bridge near a waterfall. As they clash again, Blake uses the sheath of her weapon to steal Wilt away, at which point Adam is briefly forced to rely on Blush and attempts to shoot her down while Blake tries to drive him back. Once he catches Blake's wrist and locks Blush with Gambol Shroud, Adam continues to belittle Blake as he retrieves Wilt while throwing Blake's sheath away before knocking her down with its hilt. As Adam throws more insults at Blake, he continues striking her down and knocking her away, not giving her the chance to evade his attacks. Blake calls him delusional in response, and Adam approaches Blake and points his sword near her scar, preparing to kill her once again. As Blake raises Gambol Shroud to defend herself, Adam slices it clean in half using his Semblance and then takes off his blindfold, fully explaining the pain and anger he felt when he was abandoned on the train and revealing his scar to further blame Blake for his actions. In the distance, however, Yang is already speeding on Bumblebee towards their location, which Blake's Faunus hearing picks up as Adam finish his speech. After throwing his blindfold away, Adam raises his sword and seemingly impales Blake in the abdomen, only for her to trick Adam once again using her Semblance. As Blake picks up her sheath, she proclaims she's not alone, just as Yang bursts from above on Bumblebee.

Yang vs. Adam[]

As Bumblebee crashes into Adam, knocking him down, Yang lands near Blake, ready for a rematch. She fires a long shot with Ember Celica, forcing him to block and keeping him on his knees. Noticing Blake's still not ready to fight, Yang reassures her she can hold him off for a while. Agreeing as he prepares to use his Semblance, Adam gets up and launches himself at Yang, slashing at her along with summoning afterimages of himself to reach her before merging with them to deliver three more strikes, swinging a vertical Moonslice arc before throwing and spinning Wilt like a buzzsaw at Yang before kicking it at her, slashing and shooting at her once he retrieves his sword, and performing Iaido quick draw slashes to push her back, all while Yang dodges and blocks all of his attacks. Yang retaliates by rushing towards Adam, dodging his attacks and delivering multiple blows that prevent him from using his sword until Adam blocks her punches while being knocked away by the force of her blows.

As Yang fires multiple shots from Ember Celica, Adam blocks them with Wilt and runs around Yang along with his afterimages to disorient her. Before Yang can intercept him, Adam jumps down in front of her to stab the ground, delivering a Moonslice burst that pushes her back. Blake warns her about the mechanics of his Semblance, to which Yang finds "cheap" seeing as he does not have to feel pain to use it while she does. Yang launches herself at Adam with Ember Celica and uses its recoil to dodge his sword slashes and Blush's shots while continuing to deliver strikes at him. Adam manages to block Yang's punch with his sword and pushes her back next to Blake. As the two lock eyes, Adam, seeing this, becomes enraged and fully powers his Semblance, unleashing a massive Moonslice slash at Yang who fully blocks it with her prosthetic arm, scratching it as she is pushed near the ledge. Yang gives Adam his final warning, to which he ridicules upon seeing her left arm shake in fear. Blake takes a hold of it and states to him that she is not protecting her or vice versa, but rather, they are protecting each other.

Seeing Red[]

Blake and Yang attack Adam in unison, overwhelming him with strikes. As he deflects a Gambol Shroud attack, Yang rushes in and grabs it, performing a Reverse Bumblebee maneuver that propels Blake at Adam, who blocks her blade with his own and causes her to fly back and land in the rocks around the waterfall. As her Aura shimmers, Adam plays on Yang's fears, causing her to go on the defensive and avoid his attacks. In the corner of her eyes, she sees Blake climb the rocks as Adam attacks her harder. As Adam unleashes his Semblance once more, Yang's eyes switch to red and Adam leaps towards her, swinging down, only to reveal Yang was waiting for the right moment to use her own Semblance. With Wilt in one hand, Yang pulls Adam forward through his sword and uses a supercharged punch on Adam, finally breaking his Aura. As her own Aura finally breaks, Yang throws the blade in the waterfall, causing him to go after it and allow Blake to uppercut him. As he stumbles back, both Blake and Adam notice Gambol Shroud and make a grab at the weapon. From behind, Yang snatches the other half, as Blake grabs her own and they both stab him in the chest and back. After a few moments, the two pull the weapon out of his body. Adam manages a few steps forward, towards the waterfall, shell-shocked at his own defeat. He falls to his knees and takes his last breath as his body falls into the river, finally defeated.

Trivia[]

  • Some of the attacks and animations in the Yang vs Adam segment of the fight are from an unfinished, unused fight scene that was originally being made for Yang's confrontation with Adam during the Battle of Beacon. This includes:
    • Adam sending out a pair of dark images of himself to attack Yang, followed by one of the images merging with the other and then Adam merging with the remaining image while attacking Yang.
    • Adam slashing at Yang and sheathing his sword three times in a row, with the third slash pushing her backward. In the original version, the last slash's power destroyed the wall behind Yang.
    • Adam and a pair of dark images of himself running around Yang to disorient her, followed by Adam stabbing his sword into the ground to send an attack toward her.
  • Some of the shots during the fight were similar to the anime series Naruto. However, these were actually just a coincidence.[1]
