Background[]
Not much is known about Alyx and her life before her journey in the Ever After. She and her brother Lewis were from Vacuo during a time before the Great War, before the two ended up in the Ever After together through unknown means. Alyx met with the Hunter Mice, got trapped in vines, and fought the Jabberwalker. She got her weapon stolen by the Jinxy Peddler, and had to barter with him by giving him her saddest and happiest memories to get her dagger back. She later beat the Red King at a board game, met the Curious Cat and the Rusted Knight, Jaune, who introduced himself as someone from Remnant like them, and was waiting for his friends. Together with her brother, the four made their way through the Ever After to the Great Tree, with Alyx promising the Curious Cat that she'll take them back to Remnant with her. The four travelled to many places, where Alyx would cause trouble and strife wherever she went.
At some point during their journey that was not included in the fairy tale, Alyx met the Herbalist whom she enjoyed. Though soon after Alyx changed after her meeting, becoming much more distrustful towards her friends and even family, accusing them of keeping her trapped in the Ever After. She eventually decided to leave, secretly poisoning Jaune and proclaimed he wouldn't stop her from escaping.
Alongside with Lewis and the Curious Cat, Alyx arrived at the Great Tree. However, before she left, she spoke with the Great Tree and experienced a crisis of faith. Watching Lewis leave, Alyx spoke to the Cat and explained she desired to make amends for all the trouble she caused in the Ever After, remorseful for what she'd done. However, the Curious Cat became angry over her breaking her promise, and killed her.
Legacy[]
After her death, Alyx's knife would be taken to the Blacksmith. Back on Remnant, her brother Lewis would write a story of her in honor of her memory, writing himself out of the story while attributing some of his personality onto her. He also changed the story a bit by omitting many other places and characters the two had seen.
After the Cat secretly killed Alyx, both the Cat and Jaune would hold her in contempt for decades, the first for her breaking her promise to them to bring them to Remnant with her if they helped her that ended up twisting the Curious Cat's personality and heart, causing them to become much crueler and more manipulative to succeed in their goal of escaping the Ever After and traveling to Remnant through any means necessary. While Jaune hated Alyx for poisoning him, and to his belief, her lying about what truly happened in Ever After in her fairy tale and Jaune coming to believe that she had supposedly sacrificed Lewis to the Great Tree to make it home to explain why Lewis was exempted from the story. Jaune only found out the truth many years later from the Curious Cat after his friends fell into the Ever After and joined him.
After falling off of the tree, Jaune experienced a vision of Alyx who encouraged him to change into the kind of man that Jaune always wanted to be.
Before Jaune and his friends returned to Remnant, the Blacksmith confirmed that the Curious Cat had been telling the truth about Alyx's change of heart and betrayal of the Cat and that The Girl Who Fell Through the World is the story as Lewis wished it had happened while Alyx's broken promise broke the Curious Cat's heart, leading to their cruelty with no one to send them back to the tree for repair. Producing Alyx's knife, the Blacksmith revealed that when Alyx died, she chose to leave a part of herself behind as a wish to fix what she had broken. Jaune took Alyx's knife which surrounded him in a bright glow as Alyx's spirit briefly appeared to smile at him. As a final gift to her old friend, Alyx restored Jaune's youth, turning him back into the young man that Jaune was when he first fell into the Ever After, his unblemished armor included.
