あらすじ[]
クロウ・ブランウェンが回復したあと、彼とチームRNJRはヘイヴン・アカデミーに向かう。その道中、ミストラル市を初めて見たルビー・ローズたちは、自分たちの国とは全く異なる光景に目を丸くする。
ワイス・シュニーを乗せた貨物船は、マツ湖の上空を飛んでいる最中に無線を受信する。無線の相手は他の航空機で、グリムに襲われて危機に陥っていることを知らせるものであった。ワイスは彼らを助けに行くつもりで貨物船のパイロットに確認するが、彼はそれを否定し避けて飛ぶと答える。ワイスは食い下がるが、最終的には彼の判断に従う。
ヘイヴン・アカデミーに着いたルビー達は校内で人を探すが、誰も見当たらず不審に思う。学長室の前でクロウは皆に警戒を促し扉を蹴破るが、そこにはちょうど学長のレオナルド・ライオンハート教授が立っており、彼は驚いて倒れてしまう。ルビー達が自己紹介したあと学長は他の教員が出払っていることを話すが、その言葉にクロウは驚き、レリックを誰が守るのかと抗議する。子供たちの前でレリックの話をすることに対して今度はライオンハート教授が驚くが、クロウはルビー達には既に話していると説明する。やり取りを聞いたノーラ・ヴァルキリーは、ライオンハート教授に話が伝わっていないことに呆れた様子を見せる。
ベラドンナ家の面々とサン・ウーコンはイリア・アミトラのスクロールの件でホワイト・ファング支部に出向いたが、アルベイン兄弟に関与を認めさせることはできなかった。その夜、ブレイク・ベラドンナが一人でバルコニーにいると、そこに突然イリアが現れる。ブレイクはアルベイン兄弟がイリアに全ての罪を押し付けたことを話し、彼女に離反するように言う。また、翌日にイリアのスクロールの情報をメナジェリーの皆に公表することを明かす。しかしイリアは、悲しそうな表情を見せ、ブレイク達の試みは無駄だと言う。さらに彼女はブレイクにメナジェリーから離れることを促すが、ブレイクはこれをきっぱりと拒否する。
ライオンハート教授はクロウたちがヘイヴンまで来たことを無謀なことだと非難するが、クロウはヘイヴンに人が居ないことの方が無謀だと言い返す。ライオンハートは、ビーコン陥落以来ミストラルでも混乱が起きて教員を含む多くのハンターが死んだこと、そしてミストラルとアトラスの議会も対立し始めたことを話す。また、彼は春の乙女も見つかっていないことにも言及する。春の乙女がなぜ重要なのかとルビーが問うと、ライオンハートはクロウが説明していないことを確認したあと、乙女がレリックの封印を解ける唯一の者であることを説明する。彼は春の乙女が幼い頃に逃げ出し行方不明だと述べるが、そこでクロウは春の乙女の居場所は見当が付いていると話す。それを聞いたライオンハートは素晴らしいニュースだと声を上げ、クロウに乙女の居場所を聞くと、彼はブランウェン盗賊団の名前を挙げる。クロウは盗賊団の拠点を地図で示すが、それを見たライオンハートは密かにスクロールを操作しながら、乙女奪還の部隊を整えるのに数週間かかると答える。その悠長な答えにクロウは苛立つが、ライオンハートは議会の承認を得るのに時間がかかることを説明する。クロウは自分たちだけで奪還に行くと宣言するが、ライオンハートはそれも否定し、レイヴン・ブランウェンと春の乙女が付いている以上、クロウとルビー達だけで盗賊団に対抗するのは不可能だと述べる。シンダー・フォールたちの情報についてジョーン・アークが聞くと、ライオンハートは彼女たちのファイルが嘘と偽造だけだったと答える。クロウ達との会談が終わったあと、ライオンハートのもとにアーサー・ワッツからメッセージが届き、彼のアドリブの技術について問題があると指摘する。
クロウはルビー達に宿に戻るよう言い、自身は一人でバーに向かう。彼がバーで飲んでいるとオスカー・パインが現れ、声をかける。クロウはその場に不釣り合いな子供を見て訝しむが、杖を返して欲しいというオスカーの言葉を聞くとその少年の素性を察し、満足そうに頷く。そして彼はオズピンの名を呼び、少年に杖を手渡す。
目的地に向かう途中、ヤン・シャオロンは休憩のためバーに寄って水を注文するが、そこで酒に酔った雰囲気の男がヤンに声をかける。ヤンはうんざりした様子で男を追い払おうとするが、彼がヤンの髪に触ろうとしたため、彼女はその手を掴んで彼を殴り飛ばす。バーの店主は男を迷惑に思っていたと話してヤンに感謝し、無料で水を提供する。その後の会話でヤンがレイヴンに会おうとしていることを知った店主は、危険だと言って彼女を止めようとするが、ヤンは意に介さず店を出る。すると、先ほどヤンに殴り飛ばされた男が再度彼女に声をかけ、ヤンの人探しに興味があるような様子でニヤリと笑う。
ルビー達が泊まる宿の一室に来客があり、ジョーンが扉を開けるとそこにはオスカーが立っていた。彼はルビー・ローズがいるかと尋ね、その名前を聞いたジョーン達は警戒するが、そこで酔って浮かれた様子のクロウが現れソファに倒れ込む。奥の部屋からルビーが現れると、オスカーは彼女の銀色の目について言及したあと自身の名前を述べ、さらに自身がオズピン教授でもあると話す。その言葉を聞いたクロウは歓喜の声を上げ、床に転げ落ちてしまう。
