あらすじ[]
父に呼ばれたワイス・シュニーは憂鬱な顔をしながら屋敷の中を移動する。途中で弟のウィットリー・シュニーが現れ、父が怒鳴り声で誰かと話していることをワイスに忠告する。弟が以前と異なりやけに友好的なことをワイスは訝しむが、最後には素直に礼を返す。
野営中に就寝していたルビー・ローズは、夢の中でピュラ・ニコスの声を聞いて目を覚ます。その日、ルビー達は地図を見ながらシオン村を目指しつつ、以前その村に行ったことがあるというジョーン・アークの話を聞く。しかし、シオン村に近づいた一行は、建物が破壊され人々が死んでいる惨状を目の当たりにする。生存者のハンターから事情を聞くと、山賊に襲われ、さらに人々がパニックに陥ったことでグリムが現れたという。ルビー達は瀕死のハンターを次の村まで運ぼうとするが、そうしている間にハンターは息を引き取る。ライ・レンは留まるのは危険だと話し、先を急ごうとするが、そこで彼とノーラ・ヴァルキリーは地面に残っている巨大な蹄のような足跡を発見する。
ワイスが父の書斎に入ると、部屋にはジェームズ・アイアンウッドがおり、ジャックと激しい議論を繰り広げていた。しばらくしたあとアイアンウッドはワイスに気付き、非礼を詫びたあと部屋を後にする。ジャックは、ビーコン・アカデミーの悲劇に関してアトラスが非難を受けている現状を話し、世界に友好を示すためシュニー・ダスト・カンパニーでチャリティーコンサートを行うことになったと説明する。それを聞いたワイスは素晴らしいことだと言って笑顔を見せるが、そのコンサートで彼女が歌うことになることを聞かされるとすぐに顔を曇らせる。しかし、多くの人が感激するだろうという父の言葉を受け、ワイスは渋々歌うことを了承する。ワイスが部屋から出ると、クライン・ジーベンがコーヒーを差し出し、さらにジョークを飛ばして彼女を元気付ける。
ルビーはまたしても就寝中にピュラの声を聞いて目を覚ます。辺りはまだ暗かったが、寝袋にジョーンの姿が無いためルビーは周囲を探しに行く。少し離れた場所でジョーンは武器を構えており、近くに置かれた彼のスクロールにはピュラが映った動画が再生されていた。ジョーンは動画のピュラの指示に従ってトレーニングに励むが、休憩時には彼女の言葉を聞きながら顔を歪ませる。それでも雑念を払ってトレーニングを続けるジョーンを確認したあと、ルビーはその場を後にする。
