"Known by its Song"（そのさえずりを聞けば） はRWBY Rooster Teeth 有料会員には2017年11月18日、無料会員には同年11月21日、一般には同年11月25日に公開された（いずれも現地時刻）。
あらすじ [ ] クロウ・ブランウェン はハンター の協力者を集めるため、まず下町のラーメン屋に出向き、古い知り合いのシロ・ワンという男を探す。しかし、店主はその男がツケを払わないまま顔を見せなくなったことに関して怒鳴り散らし、その剣幕に押されてクロウは退店する。その後もクロウは知り合いのハンターを訪ねて周るが、一人も見つけられず、いずれも任務中に行方不明となっていることを知る。シロが最早この世にいないことを察した彼は、ラーメン屋を再度訪れ、代わりにツケを払う。
ヤン・シャオロン とワイス・シュニー をテントに招いたレイヴン・ブランウェン は、彼女とクロウがビーコン・アカデミー に入った理由やチームSTRQ がオズピン 教授から目を付けられていたこと、そしてオズピンこそがハンター・アカデミー を作り、各アカデミーを従わせている者だということを話す。さらに彼が持つ恐ろしい秘密があると言い、グリム の主にして人類の敵であるセイラム の存在を明かす。ヤンがそんな話は信じられないと返すと、レイヴンはその疑いの態度こそが正しく、人の話を鵜呑みにするとクロウやタイヤン・シャオロン のように何も分からなくなると述べる。家族を貶す言葉を受けてヤンは怒りを爆発させ、一触即発の雰囲気となるが、ヴァーナル が止めに入り、ワイスもヤンを諫める。大切な仲間の言うことは聞くべきだとレイヴンが言うと、ヤンは家族を捨てたレイヴンが知ったようなことを言うなと返す。するとレイヴンは、ヤンが想像する以上に自分は多くの事を知っており、死から蘇る者や魔法の力も自分の目で直接見てきたと話す。そして、オズピンが彼女とクロウに対して何をしたのかは知らないだろうと言い、テントの外に出る。残されたヤンとワイスに対して、ヴァーナルは自分の目で確かめろと言い、テントを出るよう促す。
二人が外に出ると辺りにレイヴンの姿は無かった。ヤンがレイヴンの話を信じるかとワイスに聞くと彼女は否定し、魔法なんてものは存在しないと答える。そのとき、1羽のカラスが二人の頭上を飛び始め、滑空を始めたかと思うと一瞬でレイヴンの姿に変わり着地する。驚き、どうやったのかと聞くヤンに対してレイヴンは、自身が教えてもいいし、クロウに聞いてもいいと答える。そして彼女はセンブランス でポータルを開き、この場に残って母娘の関係をやり直すか、クロウと合流してセイラムとの勝ち目の無い戦いに加わるか、いずれかを選べと迫る。しかしヤンは迷う素振りを見せず、自分にとって大事なのは妹を守ることだけだと答える。ヤンとワイスがポータルを通る直前、レイヴンはヤンに対して、次に会う時は優しい態度を取る保証は無いと警告する。
クロウは当てにしていたハンター達が一人残らず行方不明となっていることを知って意気消沈していたが、そこに突如ポータルが現れる。彼は身構えるが、そこから出てきた予想外の二人を見て目を丸くする。ルビー・ローズ たち4人は、クロウが連れてくるはずのハンターたちをもてなすための料理を用意する。そこにクロウの呼ぶ声が聞こえ、ルビーがそちらに向かうと彼はヤンとワイスを引き連れており、それを見たルビーはショックで持っていたお茶を落としてしまう。彼女はヤンに黙って家を出たことを謝りながら泣き出してしまうが、ヤンは彼女を優しく抱き締め、愛していると言って慰める。ワイスはその様子を見て寂しそうな表情を見せるが、ルビーとヤンは手を広げて彼女を迎え、3人は抱き合って再会を喜ぶ。

And Qrow and I were the perfect age. The entrance exams were child's play compared to what we'd already been through. We were good. So good, that we caught the attention of Beacon's very own headmaster, Professor Ozpin. Even after we were put on a team, I could tell he was keeping his eye on us. Back then, I thought it was because he knew. But it was team STRQ he was interested in.
